Rum byl v dubnu 2009 destilován, v květnu 2019 uložen do kanadských sudů po whisky a v červnu 2019 nalahvován.
Zajímavostí je, že 49,25% alkoholu se objevuje jen v Evropě. Pro zbytek světa je lahvován v síle 40%.
Vyrobeno bylo 6000 lahví. Rum není dochucován, doslazován či dobarvován.

Picked this up on a whim, good price point and an excellent sipper.

A strong fruity sweet smell, some alcohol and spices. The taste is strong, spicy and light sweet, quite nice. During the finish the alcohol comes back.

Started little strong, serious rum with vanilla notes.

The Don Q Signature Release Single Barrel 2009 comes from Puerto Rico and is a limited edition. The rum was allowed to be stored in oak barrels for 10 years and was bottled as a single cask in barrel strength of 49.25%. Don Q stands for clean untreated rum and has a high quality standard. The rum comes in a bright gold tone in a typical Don Q bottle.

On the nose, the rum is fresh with a lot of fruity sweetness. It is worth giving some time to the rum in the glass. Citrus fruits and a slight nutty seasoning are perceptible. Barrel notes such as vanilla also resonate. All very pleasant. When drinking, the lightness is immediately noticeable. Caramel is the first to be perceptible. Also tropical fruit like orange and a light seasoning. The alcohol is well integrated and warms when drinking. The finish is shorter than expected and bitter substances remain at the end.

The Don Q 2009 is a solid rum. It tastes very good to me without setting a clear accent. It is a light rum. For 40-45 euros it is worth every penny and a very good introduction to the world of barrel strength rum. Can also be recommended as a blind purchase.

Der Don Q Signature Release Single Barrel 2009 kommt aus Puerto Rico und ist eine limited Edition. Der Rum durfte 10 Jahre in Eichenfässern lagern und wurde als Single Cask in Fassstärke von 49,25% abgefüllt. Don Q steht für sauberen unbehandelten Rum und hat einen hohen Qualitätsstandard. Der Rum kommt in einem hellen Goldton in einer typischen Don Q Flasche.

In der Nase ist der Rum frisch mit viel fruchtiger Süße. Es lohnt sich dem Rum im Glas etwas Zeit zu geben. Zitrusfrüchte und eine leichte nussig Würze sind wahrnehmbar. Auch Fassnoten wie Vanille schwingen mit. Alles sehr angenehm. Beim Trinken fällt direkt die Leichtigkeit auf. Karamel ist als erstes wahrnehmbar. Auch tropische Frucht wie Orange und eine leichte Würze. Der Alkohol ist gut eingebunden und wärmt beim trinken. Der Abgang ist kürzer als erwartet und Bitterstoffe bleiben zum Ende deutlich bestehen.

Der Don Q 2009 ist ein solider Rum. Er schmeckt mir sehr gut ohne aber einen klaren Akzent zu setzen. Er ist ein leichter Rum. Das was er macht, macht er gut. Für 40-45 Euro ist er jeden Cent wert und ein sehr guter Einstieg in die Welt der Fassstärke. Kann auch als Blindkauf empfohlen werden.
