Sugar estimated at 5 GPL. We did the tour, tried all their rums and had a visit and discussion about rums with the founder of this distillery, and I was impressed with everything. The rum is clean and smooth as it's unaged. There isn't a lot of character to it, because it's not barrel aged. It's neutral in the aroma and taste, although I thought I could detect a hint of almonds or something. No harsh burn or odd taste that so many white rums like Bacardi have. Overall this is a very good well balanced mixing rum. Well worth a try.

Column /pot blend. Florida molasses. It’s a clean rum. No medicinal/metal taste. Very good for mixing. Don’t expect a whole lot of character.

This is a solid white rum thats good for cocktails. It blends well and never burns or overwhelms. We like the company's Mai Tai recipe (found on their website) using this and Siesta Key Spiced Rum. Its not an authentic Mai Tai, but its still a tasty drink!

Great for mixing! This is a bit sweeter then most rums. Easy to drink straight.

It is what it is...a good sweet mixer. Rum and cokes or anything with fruit juices is what this is made for. Not straight by any means however.

I heard many good things about the Siesta Key rums produced in limited quantities from the family-run Sarasota-based distillery. For those of you interested in the geography Siesta Key isn't somewhere near Key West but actually is about 12 miles from the location of where Siesta Key rum is made. The rum itself is crisp rum with definite sugar cane flavor. A couple of Caribbean sources recommended all of the Siesta Key rums and I can understand why. It is indeed a good white rum where the flavors hit you before the burn. Not a harsh white rum and recommended for mixed drinks as well as colas. I like it in Coke Zero. Currently they have three choices (white, spiced, and gold). I wonder if they will be working on an overproof. Eventually I expect aged rums.
