It is what it is...a good sweet mixer. Rum and cokes or anything with fruit juices is what this is made for. Not straight by any means however.

Had a rum tasting on a sunny afternoon, because why not. Siesta Key White Rum bottle and label design looks nice and homemade. Cane sugar method with some alcohol to the nose and palate. It does have burn if neat sipped. Mix it with Coke and down it goes very smoothly.

I heard many good things about the Siesta Key rums produced in limited quantities from the family-run Sarasota-based distillery. For those of you interested in the geography Siesta Key isn't somewhere near Key West but actually is about 12 miles from the location of where Siesta Key rum is made. The rum itself is crisp rum with definite sugar cane flavor. A couple of Caribbean sources recommended all of the Siesta Key rums and I can understand why. It is indeed a good white rum where the flavors hit you before the burn. Not a harsh white rum and recommended for mixed drinks as well as colas. I like it in Coke Zero. Currently they have three choices (white, spiced, and gold). I wonder if they will be working on an overproof. Eventually I expect aged rums.
