Tasty, but not quite great
Aroma wild, almost like agricole style. First few second of taste is sweeter with floral tones. After is coming burning and short aftertaste. Taste is much weaker and not so complex that the Tropical aged version.
I got the opportunity to attend a rum tasting with Daniele Biondi from Velier were we tasted 9 different rums. This was the sixth rum of the night, that we tasted side-by-side with its brother, that it identical to this one in every way apart from the aging on that one is tropical. It was impressive to see the difference between these two "identical" rums. The two rums were very different both in taste and color (this one was really light with a golden hue).
Nose: Sugar cane, lemon, coconut, banana and some floral notes
Taste: Cane sugar, pear, cinnamon, lime and again some light floral notes
Overall: This was an okay rum, but it was somehow to light. The continental aging does very little compared to the tropical aging and it shows, when you taste these side-by-side. I know these are sold in 2-packs with one bottle of each and if you are rum nerd, then you should really try and make the comparison between the two, because it is astounding.
