Really, if drank it in a blind taste I would never guess this was a Jamaican rum. It’s not dry, almost no funk at all...very unusual, but for me that is a good thing because this rum is really tasty and maybe is good to have a Jamaican that taste different from the others. I know a lot of people will get disappoint same I was in my first glass but at the end it is just a really nice rum regardless. I def got the tokaj wine sweetness both on the nose and palate plus some banana, caramel and dried apricots. The finish is quite long with a strong but nice (imo) burn.
I really like this rum, if you’re expecting Jamaican dry hobo funky don’t buy it or you will get disappointed, but if are open minded and can handle a different Jamaican, have a go because it is tasty.

Plantation rums have been hit or miss with me. This one was a definite hit. Sweet. Oaky. Some after burn. Straight. Mixed. Both good. An interesting choice on wine barrels. 6.5 - 7.0

I hate to finish this bottle because Plantation’s Single Barrel editions are so hard to find in the Southeast US. Drinking neat, light across the nose, slight honey notes; being Jamaican, not much “funk” across the tongue, light fruit, more honey on the palette; at $70+ USD, not one of their best, but still a great bottle;

- vůně nezapře původ, velmi příjemná, vanilka, mléčná karamelka
- chuť nasládlá, jemná, ovocná, není to typická Jamajka

I was really looking forward to this one. However, it disappointed me a bit. The sweet Tokaj wine finish only comes forward in the fresh floral notes of the wine and a hint of pear, sounds good right? Not really, the rum is a bit flat with little body and a strong burn. Good bottle for collectors but as a sipper there are better. Have only tried it once though.

Cask no. 03, bottle no. 347
The nose begins brightly, with discernible floral, ginger, honey and cantaloupe notes that I attribute to the Tokay barrel finishing. It reminds one of nosing, well, Tokay, or a Sauternes or another late-harvest dessert wine. Wow, I can’t keep my nose out of the Glencairn to even bring myself to taste it - lol! Indeed, a beautiful nose. On the palate is tropical fruit mixed in with butterscotch and toffee/caramel, akin to a Werthers candy, before finishing with a blackcurrant note...just...wow! It’s incredible that this rum has no dosage because there is some discernible sweetness. That must be coming from the Tokay cask. On both the nose and palate there is no “funk” whatsoever, so those looking for that typical profile from the Long Pond Distillery will be disappointed if that is the expectation. I was going to originally give this fantastic rum an 8, but for the moment, I’m going to say that this is one of the best rums I’ve tried. There is something about it that sets it apart! 9/10.
