Tasty, but not quite great

Tastes absolutely awful, but that then, I’m not a fan of botanical drinks, which I should’ve learned from the vodkas I’ve tried
Well, I bought a of this on a bit of a (hipster) whim!
I like the bottle shape, label and back story, and was drawn in...
Aroma is like no other rum I’ve tried, each of the listed spice hits you all at once. Tasting, on the other hand, you are run through each spice individually, from the subtle notes first, building to an aniseedy finish. Very nice with ice, very nice with a dash of cola.
I’m impressed and pleasantly surprised for the money! (£21)

Not usually one for the botanicals but this is so different and complex.

Ignore the low tier ratings - this rum has fist loads of flavour. It is a cheap and interesting addition to any collection.
It is not a great like Zacapa, El Dorado or santa teresa, it isnt as refined as diplomaticos 2005 or the de familia. But it is a good rum.
Brewdog always hit with something different so this rum is fermented with red wine yeast, its relatively smooth and has a big molassasy punch, all in all its quite warming.
They substitute the vanilla for tonka beans, which gives the drink a more complex taste, thats more subdued than vanilla, its slightly earthier than other spices with a hint of the same flavours you would get from a brewed cola. There is no aniseed in this drink contrary to what some have said, plenty of cloves, some cardamon with a great whiff of orange off the tongue with a touch of cinnamon.
its not the most well balanced, but for a £20 rum its great over ice.
Cracking rum different for sure but full of flavour
I like this one a lot, but its definitely one that only works in the winter due to its botanical spices. Great at Christmas.

The smell and flavours are unique and it has great potential. However there’s something flat about it. It’s almost like a dulled down version of really great rum.

This stuff is nuts, not Rum, maybe a rum based liqueur. Insane amounts of flavour of cloves, spices and herbs etc. and a heap of Orange too, so you cannot actually taste Rum..................... but it does taste lovely, on occasion and in small amounts LOL . I like it, but a little goes a long way.

Lots of different flavours come through. Really smooth to drink.

Do you like your rum tasting like a winter gin , then drink this hideous concoction ... More of a spiced rum that's dosed with sugar and aniseed... Sadly I hate aniseed so never going to rate this highly ... lovely for Christmas spirit certainly not a rum ..
