Venezuela | Aged | 40% ABV

Santa Teresa 1796 rum is produced in Venezuela and aged using the solera system that blends rums aged between 4 and 35 years. Before bottling, the rum is aged for a further year in large French oak casks to marry the blends.

This rum was first created in 1996 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the distillery, the Santa Teresa Hacienda.

This is probably one of the most underrated rums I've tried besides the Ron Centenario 20-Year.

Smells and tastes of caramel, butterscotch, molasses, honey, vanilla, and a light oak. This is exactly the type of rum I love. It's especially good for the low price of only $38.49 (Total Wine & More, 2020 price).

Not bad, but even letting it rest didn't help with the strong alcohol on the nose.

Offered with a nice packaging ( nice box with wax seal ) for the price , this Santa Teresa 1796 has a nice dark amber color. It quite light and a little bit too short but it offers various aromas like dry fruits, honey and some woody scents specially in your empty glass. Not bad for the price.

A rum that i would figure would come right out of the old days. Strong yet balanced, with notes of oak, smoke, and with the solera method, it stays consistent. A definite member in my cabinet. With a nice macanudo cigar, it pairs great.

I can never really remember what this taste like, because there's not so much taste there. It's still a decent sipper, but nothing super special. It's a 6.5/10 to me...

Not really the type of rum that I prefer - a bit too dry for my taste - but certainly not a bad rum. Would prefer this over a Zacapa 23 Solera.
