Venezuela | Aged | 40% ABV

Santa Teresa 1796 rum is produced in Venezuela and aged using the solera system that blends rums aged between 4 and 35 years. Before bottling, the rum is aged for a further year in large French oak casks to marry the blends.

This rum was first created in 1996 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the distillery, the Santa Teresa Hacienda.

Not as full-on flavoured as say Diplomatico Reserva, but the flavour comes more in the form of subtly sweet okay notes, and might be one of the most easy to drink rums I've had. Has absolutely no afterburn and is exceptionally smooth, if it was cheaper I could easily see myself necking most of a bottle in a night.

This is probably the best all around $50-70 rum I have encountered.
Smooth and complex in flavor, this rum is a great sipping rum.

Like all good spirits, enjoy it chills with just a few drops of water to open up the flavor and aroma.

Diplomatico is better advertised but Santa Teresa is the better quality rum from Venezuela. This rum is incredible

Bit disappointed with this one, smell is great but the taste is a bit tough.

Hiermit hat es 2010 angefangen, hatte zwei Flaschen aus Venezuela mitgenommen. Jahre später nachbestellt, war leider nicht mehr so gut. Nostalgie spielt hier auch mit.

This is pretty tasty with one rock, or neat... cooling it off brought out the deep brown sugar and spices, really drinkable.

Is always a great choice. Solera system 4 to 34 really kicked me off

I’ve been waiting this for a long, but in the end I was kind of disappointed.
Very nice bottle and colour.
Rich balanced flavour, a dry rum, but somehow sweet and sour.
Vanilla notes and a hint of oak. There is also something like an “old walnut”.
It has a solera “boost” but in the end lacks somehow in the body. Aftertaste somehow ok but not great.

I recommend to try it a bar before buying a bottle. For me is one of the few that in the end I prefer it with ice or gb rather than sipping. Let it breath and try it in different ways. Interesting but its dryness is not my cup of rum.

I must say i really don't understand why this rum is rated below 8. It is really an excellent rum and great value for incredibly reasonable price. First sip, instant satisfaction! Great flavor, some hints of sweetness (molasses, caramel) and a bit of oak. I really enjoyed it.

Light nose, slight spice taste but smooth going down with a slight spice after taste
