Sailor Jerry Spiced

Honestly I wasn't expecting much from this rum. After all it's usually shelved along with the cheapest rums the store has to offer. And in this area you find it in every liquor store without exception.

It has a nice amber color and a subtle aroma. A good flavor with a balance of spices and flavors. Fairly complex. I admit my uneducated palate cannot specify them all but I do get some vanilla and cinnamon along with....cherry? Okay...I had to sip and re-sip but I distinctly detect some cherry in this spiced rum. Pretty good. Frankly, I suggest dumping any and all Capt. Morgan spiced rum you may have and replace it with Sailor Jerry Spice Rum. Interestingly even though it's 92 proof it doesn't have a biting burn. A nice slow, albeit strong, warmth coating the throat.

I admit there are indeed better spiced rum available but for the price this is a very good rum to have onhand. If you are at a bar and given the choice between Capt. Morgan spiced rum and Sailor Jerry, take Sailor Jerry. You will not be disappointed. Works extremely well in Coke Zero.

This one never disappoints me. While I'm not very fond of the strong vanilla aftertaste, I can't stop drinking it. Very smooth for a spicy mixer and always popular with the lady's, it just never stays on the shelf for very long. The best spiced rum outta the states.

Say what you want, I loved sailor before hipsters loved sailor. My favorite.

Personaly, I liked it mixed with cola or juice ! One of the best for this. Sailor Jerry Spiced got a better taste than Captaine Morgan for sure. It is an okay rum !

Not a bad drink on a hot summer day with lots of ice and a wedge of lime.

I saw this bottle and I had to get it! This is a rum bad people keep hidden somewhere just in case. It's got a sweetness to it that I dig. Will most likely pick up a bigger bottle in the near future.

This one, in the states, is the only rum (that I have seen) not called overproof that is anything but 80 proof. Being 92 proof, when I opened the bottle, I thought someone screwed up and put white lightning in it. After a few minutes in the glass, I could start to smell a little sweetness, and the cask. I had to let it breath for a good 1/2 hour before I could drink it straight up.
This is a mixer for sure. I have a bottle of white lightning I drink when the objective is to get drunk. It was good with ginger ale. I'm guessing it will make an awesome rum and coke. I'm thinking it would be a lot better at 80 proof.

Update: The closer I got to the bottom of the bottle, the more I liked this. It was breathing in the bottle, and towards the bottom, became quite good. I am thinking this should be bottled at 80 proof. Even so, as I got past 1/2 bottle, I was able to enjoy this straight up. Try some today. It's relatively cheap, too.

Always a Base for every rum cabinet as its great in all conditions..

This goes great with egg nog and nutmeg. Heck, it's even good in a tiki drink! Stands well on its own and in a mix.
