On the cheap shelf of rums. Have had few bottles, but wouldn’t buy again,
If i'm in the mood to have a few mixed drinks I would not hesitate to grab a bottle of Sailor Jerry spiced. While it's a more mass produced commercial rum, it still holds its ground and retains some blended flavours on the palate past the initial ethanol burn. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a sipper however I do believe it can be done. 5/10
I,m of the same opinion as another review. This Rum is wonderfully smooth, but has very little in the way of flavour. All I can taste is Vanilla and alcohol, hardly any Rum taste at all, very weird. When used as a mixer, the same; any flavour vanishes and just leaves hints of vanilla and strong alcohol. It is not unpleasant to sip, just a bit pointless. Probably on par with a generic supermarket Spiced Rum. I will never buy this again.
This is pretty tame stuff. I will say that I marginally prefer it to the even blander Foursquare (which feels like someone ruined a decnt rum by adding half-hearted spices to it). It's pretty dull but drinkable and ok in mixers. To see what you are missing, try RedLeg or Rebellion and if you are wanting something different and more interesting, try Chairman's Reserve Spiced or Dark Matter. RedLeg is far more spicey and has loads more kick, Rebellion is also spicier, sweeter and smoother.
I'd say that this smells a whole lot better than it tastes. The smell is spicey, the taste is of young rum - semi-decent at best. The main taste here is vanilla, which is fine - but it's pretty low-key vanilla and Pink Pigeon (if you want subtle) and Rolling Calf and OJ (if you want strong and tangy) do it better.
This is a strong tasting spiced rum, not for sipping and does not make a great rum and coke. Strong artificial flavour and not aged rum flavour. This is no longer in my home cabinet.
at least better than Captain Morgan...
Harsh and abrasive when drunk over ice, lacking the flavour and sophistication of Rumbullion, or even Don Papa. Easily drunk though with a mixer.
Looks like it should be on the nose of a B25, that said this is good as any spiced rum. It's just not better than the other I have found I like. Too much vanilla for me. But then I don't like vanilla Coke so I had to mix with ginger beer. That didn't work either.

The rum smells very sweet.
"It is initially very sweet on the tip of the tongue but it soon becomes very bitter."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Cheap but flavorful

Sailor Jerry is a great cheap rum which still has a bunch of flavor. Fairly spicy, but still has a bit of a lighter fluid feel. Not bad if all you're looking for is a cheap way to have rum, but still maintain some flavor.
