The Our Rum and Spirits Guyana Rum from 2004 comes from the Diamond Distillerie and was bottled after 13 and 14 years in barrel strength without additives or filtration. The column-style distilled rum was allowed to store in oak barrels for 2 years in the tropical and then the rest of the time in the European climate. The Rum comes after 13 years with 63.7% and after 14 years with 64.5% alcohol. 197 and 207 bottles were bottled.
Both rums have strong caramel notes in the nose. Vanilla and honey come through. Oak notes resonate. But also ripe fruits such as mango and orange. Overall, the 14-year-old is a little stronger, but only recognizable in direct comparison. The smell is very similar. I find the rum very tasty in the nose. The longer it stands, the more complex it becomes. Absolutely top.
On the palate, the caramel prevails. Vanilla is clearly to taste. Tropical fruit resonates. The high alcohol carries the aromas very well and does not remain on the tongue. With the wood, there is also some spice such as cinnamon. With a few drops of water, the rum becomes more complex on the tongue. Pastry spices and also some leather are now perceptible. In addition to a sweet residual note, wood and bitter fabrics accompany the finish. Here, however, I lack the certain extra what i expected when drinking and i was a little disappointed.
The Guyana Rum from Our Rum has premium quality and the barrel strength is a lot of fun. The finish could be more complex and despite the high alcohol content it is a little too gentle. Both rums are very similar. The 14-year-old is a bit stronger, the 13-year-old has reacted more complexly to the water. So just one review for both. My first cask strengths Guyana and i have to say that i liked it a lot. But after some years i also learned that there are better, more complex ones.
Diamond is a word, that brings out a lot of emotions in people and takes them to special places. For lovers of rum the word takes us to Guyana. This time through an independent bottler from Germany
Nose: Mango, Apricots, Maple Syrup, Oak and Cinnamon
Taste: Mango, Apricots, Dried Bananas, Cloves and Leather with a long and smooth aftertaste
Overall: This is a really good bottle of Diamond-rum. It is very mellow, when you consider the fact, that the rum is bottled at 60+ ABV. Very nice in the glass after dessert or just to mellow out on the couch after a stressful day. It is a bit to mellow (somehow) and fruity for me to give it a higher mark, but a very solid rum.
Well done guys, this is a fine example of Diamond Demerara! Nice molasses, raisins, plum....rich flavours, spices of Christmas cake. Molasses. I do enjoy this!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Nose: Strikingly round and restrained for the %, molasses, a nice sweetness as of maple syrup, apricots, mango, vanilla, cinnamon, a touch of mint, caramel.
Taste: Mango jellies, nicely fruity yet dry, papaya, cinnamon, eucalyptus, toffee, molasses, nice oak, a touch of yeast dough, vanilla, camphor, hint of ginger
Finish: The exotic fruit now in its dried form, molasses, lightly toasted oak, medium length, caramel, has a very sweet last touch, feels almost sweetened (although it shouldn't be?)
Comment: Not overly complex but still a solid and tasty, sweet and fruity >60% Guyana!
