After opening : dry and quite boring ethanol-bomb. Then slowly opens with air (oxydation mandatory) and brings a massive almond pie with frangipane layer and milky liquorice on top of it. Reminds me of a Charrette with more "hair on the chest".
Way better than the Wray & Nephew !
Ta vůně je intenzivní a stále si nejsem jistý, jestli mi voní, nebo ne.
Velmi hřeje a hodí se do koktejlů.
Nose: very young nose with aromas from a fruit brandy, like Hampden Velvet or Nanny of the Maroons. I smell quince, lime, pear, metallic aromas. Everything that reminds me of a rum that has not been aged. The distillate isn't bad, but I prefer aged rums.
Taste: Fruity start, spicy but not unpleasant for me at 63%. The aromas from the nose are here, quince, lime, pear, metallic aromas in the background (like stainless steel tank).
The finish is spicy and fruity again, the rum tingles on the tongue.
A good destillate, but I like aged rums. It's too young with too young aromas.
I would say it's good for mixing, but for sipping there are better rums.

I've been looking forward to giving this overproof a try and comparing it to the classic Wray & Nephew Overproof. The Rum Bar lineup is also from 🇯🇲 and distilled at Worthy Park. Worthy Park is using molasses for its product and distills with a 18,000L pot still (with a double retort), which can yield 8,000L of rum a day. Rum Bar Overproof comes in at the same 63%ABV as W&N.
On the nose it is caramelized banana, olive, grass, and pepper. Water brings out olive brine, lime and faint cigarette.
The palate is oily. A little too punchy at full strength. Some water brings out a creaminess, vanilla and ginger.
The finish has some bitterness, walnut, and is a bit dry. With water there are roasted almonds, licorice and it is a little sour.
Comparing to W&N, the Rum Bar is more creamy, while the W&N is more spicy. In the end, I have a slight preference for the Rum Bar (well neat anyways). Once this pops up in Ontario I may replace my Wray with it.
What's not to love with a full blown 63% overproof from Jamaica ... Beautiful flavours mixed with the funk ... Yes a bar must
Det er absolut den dårligste “rom” jeg har smagt.
Overmoden banan på flaske.
Looking to get into Overproof semi funky rums this could be the one for you. I enjoy this in most cocktails but if I have to be honest Rumfire is the go to in this price point.
Vegetal almost like fresh sugarcane.
"It smells of sweet alcohol mixed with freshly cut grass an almost sour slightly fermented note."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Nose: super buttery, with lots of expected rotten tropical fruit, bit of a weird cherry candy, also caramel with bit of saltiness.
Palate: Butter, acidity, caramel, banana, rotten tropical fruit, bit of saltiness, not much heat at all.
Finish: tingling with salty butter and banana, caramel.
Decent overproof, lots of esters but not in an overly vinegar acidic way, pleasant flavors, no alcohol heat or taste.
