Abuelo Oloroso Sherry Cask 15-Year

Barrel, caramel, chocolate and grapes in aroma; decent sweetness, and grapes 8n the end

($110CAD) Abuelo 12 was one of my favourite rums and I decided to give the more expensive Finish Collection a go for a special occasion. The box and bottle are great, I really love the bottle. It’s simple yet refined and aesthetically pleasing.
The color of the rum is nice and dark, similar to Oloroso Sherry. You can smell the sherry out of the glass but also some pleasant smokey sweetness. These smells are leaping out of the glass giving much anticipation of the euphoria to follow.
The taste is strongly of above with the sweetness taking over your palate.
The longer in the glass, the more sherry flavour comes out to meet your tongue. The smokiness turns into a finish.
This is a specialty rum and deserves a specialty occasion. It has a unique flavour that would do well in a certain setting, for instance: after a long day when you are alone for contemplation. There’s a lot going on so it requires more of your attention. Tons of fun.

Dejlig blød og venlig rom. Typisk smag af Panama og oloroso. God.

Amazing colour and great legs. The sweetness is offset by the dryness of the sherry finish. Caramel, nuts and leather taste. Cherish it while the bottle lasts. Only complaint is the price because Im cheap.

If you like sweet rums this is incredible. The only problem is the bottle goes quickly. Its not cheap either. Its a must have..

Citrus notes humid wood toasted almond after taste, velvet consistency with wine finish

Tasted at Laka Lono 10/30/22. Reddish amber pour. Crazy good aroma woody oaky and vinous. Big thick and chewy palate. Barrel flavors clearly evident. Whatever sherry is used, it’s working. Like sucking on a freshly sawn board. Grapes in a big spice finish. Good stuff.

Hot buttered rum but it's only rum so maybe I should say it tastes and smells like butter pecan??
I've never understood the point of a sherry cask until RIGHT NOW

Quite good sipping rum: smooth, sweet, characteristic sherry finish.
