Ron Zacapa XO Rum is produced in the highlands of Guatemala where it is distillled from fresh cane juice. The rum is then aged from 6 to 23 years at 7544 feet above sea level at 62 °F (17 °C) using the solera process. The solera aging process incorporates barrels that previously held American whiskeys, sherries, wines and Cognac
The unique Ron Zacapa XO glass decantur features an impression of a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle
I'm not getting a huge amount of complexity. As this is pretty expensive in the UK you would expect a lot more when spending this kind of money.
It is a very nice rum and if you can get it for around £60 ( and I was lucky to get it doe this) go for it but as it's generally available around £85 or more than there are better rums around that price mark and much better for even less than that.
They have done a good job with the packaging and I truly love the decanter bottle but it's a shame that it is not reflected in the contents. It's just too close to the 23 in flavour profile which doesn't warrant almost double the price.
This is a real good rum, I would buy it agian always :)
Smooth, delicious, always good. Everyone likes this rum. $100 a bottle, but probably worth it. Nice bottle too, makes me feel fancy.
Fantastic sherry taste. A good splurge for a true rum drinker.
uno dei migliori rum qualita/prezzo
Buon rum profumato e delicato.
Extremely smooth and great finish. Complex taste. No too sweet. Can never get enough.
I love the 23 yo. The XO is the natural evolution and the corrected version. Very very round with caramel and oak with the smoothest finish you can wish for. Priced at ~99€ I walked past it many times until I stumbled upon an airport deal for 65€. In the future I'll be ready to pay the full price.
Straight up or 1 ice cube
The rum is smooth, however for the price I was expecting more complex flavors, more from the sherry cast (a better experience in the taste and nose).
Don't confused it is great, smooth, there is some sweet and elegante flavors there. But talking about Guatemalan rums I prefer Botran 18 rather than this one for instance.
I think there is something in the Zacapa solera system than do not convince me at all, but it is a good choice for gift or when you want to have something packaged beautiful in your table.
Finally, for the price you should drink it straight or on the rocks (with just one big chuck ice)
Wonderful rum... but looking at the price I expected something very special that I did't find.
Excellent sipping rum. Very smooth and a pure delight!
It's a good rum. I like the nose and the taste is smooth and sweet. Good aftertaste. If you're into RZ, this is the rum for you. But the thing is, its good but not that good. You can easilly buy a better rum for less. Personally, I'm glad that I got to taste it before I went out and bought it.
I try this one in rum tasting last week and I must say that this rum was the best I've ever tasted. Simply GREAT and if you have the opportunity to taste it, don't hesitate.
i wanted to see what the hubbub was all about with this Zacapa version. A friend found it for me in Princeton, NJ for about $75 which sounds like a good price. It was packaged very nicely in a presentation box that I felt guilty throwing away. It really is a nice, beautifully smooth rum that I'll enjoy sparingly so it will last longer.
Parmi mes meilleurs rhums.
a most excellent sipping rum, with hints of vanilla, caramel, and tropical spice. muted alcohols, excellent nose, much too tasty to mix!
I'd been looking forward to this one for quite a while. That Zacapa flavor is definitely there, but there's a smoothness that the Solera 23 lacks. An excellent rum and well worth trying if you can afford the high price.
this is the best rum ive had so far really deep rich balanced rum
God sødme, lang eftersmag der gør at du vil have mere.
After trying the 15 years, then the 23 years, I finally bought myself this bottle. I was so excited to open it... The first smell was gorgeous, the first taste was wonderful, I knew directly that this bottle was worth the money I paid for it.
It is more intense that the 23 years. It keeps the smoothness, the perfect vanilla taste and i has a very long spicy aftertaste. This is one of my favorites. I need to buy a second bottle, the first one will be empty very soon.
