Ron Zacapa XO Rum is produced in the highlands of Guatemala where it is distillled from fresh cane juice. The rum is then aged from 6 to 23 years at 7544 feet above sea level at 62 °F (17 °C) using the solera process. The solera aging process incorporates barrels that previously held American whiskeys, sherries, wines and Cognac
The unique Ron Zacapa XO glass decantur features an impression of a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle
One of the rums that I do not typically offer to ladies visitors. Strong oak, coffee, tobacco. But compared to Zacapa 23 Solera, the nose is really smooth. Perhaps one of the best rums I have tasted.
Delicious and smooth. This is my favourite rum that I have ever had.
I have loved this rum from the first time i was lucky enough to get a 5cl mouthful in a tasting pack.
Incredibly smooth, beautifully presented and an exotic name. Expensive enough to make it a treat but not too dear to make it unobtainable.
While I am not the most worldly travelled person, this is by far my favorite so far. Smooth enough to sip and even more delicious with Ginger ale
Worth every dollar. Whatever you mix with it, it just makes it better.
I didn't hesitate to give this a 10, excellent taste throughout and with an exceptional finish. The presentation and packaging is great, well worth the money.
This to me is how a great aged rum should taste. It's so smooth that you would think it's a cognac. It's got great balance and depth to it and I would drink it after every meal if I could!
Like the 23 but with a longer aftertaste and a few more subtle flavours. Great stuff
Vanilla and spice, warm, great mouth feel, lingering on the throat and on the nose. Love this rum.
Was able to find a bottle of Zacapa XO for $50! It was a no brainer in choosing to purchase this fine rum, especially at that price. A fruity and sweeter rum than many others I've tried. However, all the components of this rum combined with the smooth taste offers the palette a pleasing example of flavorful bliss. It doesn't contain any hints of funky flavors to deter from the complexity of the rum. A fine example of what fine rum from Guatemala can and should taste like! In my opinion, Zacapa XO rivals most other fine rums at this price point or higher.
Για μένα ήταν ένα "must try rum" ....
An amazing rum. The best I've ever tried. Just for special occasions and to share with special friends.
The old Bottle is excellent as a basis for a lamp (when empty!). :-)
What can I say but amazing sweet honey, orange, fruit flavours that you can sit back take small sips and let the rum to all the talking in your mouth
The best rum of the world, So excited, Is a personal collection from Madrid, Spain.
the bottle of Zacapa XOl old version y very rare and exclusive rum
I tried this one head to head with centenario 20,25,30. Flor de cana 18,25 and diplomatico 2002, exlusiva viscayu 21, plantation 20th and a few others. What a night!
Anyways. You can't go wrong with any of the above rums, but this one ended up being my third favorite
this is such a dream of Rum! you need to try this freaking good stuff!!
To understand the true beauty of Zacapa, let me provide some background on the attention to detail it goes into making it. Zacapa is a solera, meaning a blend of rums from various ages. The base is derived from not just fresh cane juice, but virgin sugar cane. This provides a smooth finish with no burn. For non-rum drinkers, this is a game changer because Zacapa is easily palatable.
Pour: Lighter mahogany
Nose: Almost hard to distinguish, but hints of oak, caramel, nuts, fruit
Taste: Best served with a whisky ball. I have had neat, however, the ice really opens up the flavor. Some speculate that because Zacapa is "slow" aged (meaning, in the mountains, at a colder temperature, with less oxygen) that the ice really brings the rum to it's fruition. I might buy that, but if you are a true neat drinker, this rum is good either way. You'll get a mild oak, but mostly smooth cherry, chocolate, dried fruits and cinnamon flavors.
This rum is a true 9, whereas my other favorite, Diplomatio, would be a 8.5 - 8.8.
Enjoy my friends!
I think of this rum like water through divine hands. It is incredibly smooth and I would say the best I have had to date. I find it hard to justify the cost over Zacapa 23 at 2x the cost, but it is superb.
this is the one. The one you fall in love with over and over. if you haven't tried it, buy it. its not cheap you get what you pay for. It will change your rum life and pallet.
