Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

I really liked the Solera 23, don’t get me wrong. But the price we in Sweden (599SEK = 70.24USD) has to pay for this, is according to me a little bit too much for what you’ll get. Overall it’s a good rum with a great taste.

A sweet rum with some oak.
A crowd pleaser. This is where it all started for me some years ago.

Tastes nice, a really good entry into the world of rum, but... it is very sugary and sweet, very liquory. The added sugar takes away some of the rum notes I really like, so it was quite a disappointment for the price.
I loved the rich dark taste of this rum on its own or in a mixer.

Sweet but relatively neutral. Nice aroma and very neutral aftertaste. For its price, this is a good choice for those who like sweet rums.
