Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

This rum, I think, is great as the first rum. I came to rum through this one. A little sweetness makes it very smooth to drink. Not the cheapest, but surely one of the better.

Not much to say about the Zacapa 23 solera that hasn't been said before. It's a rum for people who don't like rum. It's a sugared fruity licqueur. It tastes of sweet jam/jelly. I drank it twice in a bar, bought a bottle once and never restocked it when it was gone. However... as a licqueur it's not without its merits. It has some depth and flavour variety and it's very smooth. I can drink it on a hot sunny day with a bit of ice (to tone down the sweetness, not to smooth out the burn), but that's about the only occasion.

Rich, colourful taste with lots of variations. Works really well with cola also.

It is a nice rum but a little bit to rugged for my taste!

Solera 23 was easy to drink all afternoon. It is a little too sweet but I had little problem overcoming that minor issue. On the rocks with a cigar...that was an easy afternoon.

Dette er banker! Skiller seg ikke særlig ut men er god og rund og passer for både nykommer og viderekomne. Sikkert kjøp

One of the best rum I tasted. Not a real 23 yo rum but I like the taste.

Had high expectations, but it was a bit of a letdown. I mean it's a good rum, but not thát good. Too expensive as a mixer. Maybe i like the XO better... I guess i'll have to try :-)
