Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

There's no doubt, Zacapa 23 is great for the rum industry. I'd guess its the most prevalent aged rum out there, and brought many newcomers to rum. this is a good started rum if you like sweet. For the more experienced drinkers there are plenty other expressions to choose.

One of my favorites out there.such a great tasting to it that is not over powering and adds great to a coke. Would give it a 9 but I gave the Zacapa XO a 9.

The "orange pealy" and sweet smell Tell me I'm up for a treat. As expected the Ron Zacapa 23 Solera has a very pleasant and yet powerful aroma of orange, caramel and vanilla. It could be a bit rounder and also I would have lived some sort of twist. But I will definitely continue my trip down Ron Zacapa Road!

Good sipper but, fell short in the flavor department for me. For the price point and the reviews I expected more. Still not a bad rum and it goes down smooth and is very pleasant on the nose. Not what I expected.

Cheers

This rum is very high quality. However, for me, it is a bit on the sweet side. I am relatively new to rum. I usually enjoy scotch and bourbon. I think in time I could definitely warm up to this. However, for now it is a bit sweet. If you like sweet rums, I would definitely recommend this.

I've been drinking rum for a long time but just recently started making serious changes and I'm constantly trying new things. This is the best rum I've had on the rocks and is a new staple in my lineup.
