Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Other commenters here have really ripped this rum. I actually enjoy its molasses, oaky, rather alcoholic and chalky flavors. But it should be noted that I generally prefer Armagnac to Cognac because of the former's earthy qualities. It was recommended to me by a quality, local merchant who caters to a heavily Latin American customer base. I hadn't delved into its manufacturing details, as others here evidently have done, so my comments are based exclusively on my drinking experience, and not on an intimate knowledge of the product. I enjoy a few ounces every now and then, sometimes with a smear of top-grade chunky peanut butter on crackers, a few dried apricots, and Camembert or Morbier. Makes me happy.

Nice rum for an everyday sip. Some coffee notes a good match to Cuban cigars

I like this rum. Has a nice smooth taste. Not sure if it worth the price though. But a very good rum

Not bad on the rocks. A little sweeter than I prefer and that sometimes covers up some more desireable subtle notes. Not as complex as others.

Very tasty rum !
Zacapa 23 is soft and harmonious but not sweet .
He has a balanced flavor with vanilla flavor .
It is milder than the Solera 23 Etiqueta negra .

Sehr leckerer Rum!
Zacapa 23 ist weich und harmonisch aber nicht süß.
Er hat ein ausgewogenes Aroma mit Vanillin-Geschmack.
Er ist etwas milder als der Solera 23 Etiqueta negra.
