Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

When you're sitting at home and just want something good to enjoy with your favorite show, then the Zacapa 23 Solera is the perfect choice. It has amazing spicy flavour of dark treacle, and isn't too expensive. The only detractor might be that it is slightly too sweet, so you don't want to have this as your only bottle.

I had heard a lot of zacapa. And as i sip, i like it, but i did not love it. So i was a littlebit disapointed because my excpextations where to high.

On the sweet side, apparently the product of fresh sugar cane and honey. A very nice dark amber. Enjoyed neat in a snifter.

Yes it tastes great. No it is not a genuine aged rum. The XO version is IMO less sweet and more what this rum should be, but the 23 has been sweetened to make it more appealing to the American palate. Also, this is not a 23 yr old rum, it is a Solera blend of aged rum the OLDEST of which is 23 yrs, the average age is closer to 6-8 years

This rum, in my opinion, may be the smoothest rum out there. I find ithat goes down a bit too smooth at times is troublesome because it disappears so fast. I recommend it straight, with whiskey stones, or maybe one ice cube as you don't want to water it down. The sweetness is there for sure but I personally don't feel it's overpowering. Not an every day drinker but more for occasion.

Beautiful sipping rum. Worth the money and is very smooth. Long legs in glass and looks as divine as it tastes

This is a very sweet rum that my younger friends enjoy. It is definitely not in the same class of other aged rums. But it serves it's purpose. Don't have the same expectation as an Appleton or Flor de Cana.
