Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled from fresh cane juice before aging at 7544 feet at 62 °F (17 °C).
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.
When I first began to enjoy rum, this was the first bottle of good stuff I purchased. It is very sweet, a nice dark color, and has an inviting aroma. I have not purchased in a while mainly due to the fact that this was the first step on a journey through many bottles of rum However, I find most decent bars & dining establishments will have this... IF they have any rum worthy of drinking. Even my Dad, who is first and foremost a wino, a bloody mary, and a gin & tonic kind of guy found this to be quite good. Nothing Rare, but always delivers.
Sweet and chill! My very first rum i have ever tasted. First kiss, first love. Always good choice
I like the Zacapa rum. It has a nice taste, but not like a really top rum.
It is sweet and is a very good feeling after the drink. 😄
Great rum, breaks the level of too good to mix. Can't go wrong with this.
It is my first high quality rum and I enjoyed it very much. This rum makes me want to explore the rum world and drink better sipping rum.
This is quite a solid rum and fairly easy to drink although i don't think it stands out massively. I wouldn't say it is overly sweet or anything though.
I liked this for its smoothness and the easy transfer of flavours as you sip it. Long finish. Great. Not a 9 or 10 because almost too smooth? Like something raw has been lost on the way. Still amazing though
Some may find this overly sweet. Personally, I very much enjoy it. I find it to be a great introduction to the subtle art of drinking rum for people who don't know anything about it and think that Bacardi Superior is as good as it gets. This is just so, the else entirely.
Very sweet and easy to drink. It seems there's quite some sugar added, though. This is my second rum.
This one just doesn't work for me. Not too excited about taste - it just all feels drowned in alcohol. Too straightforward, trying lil too hard. Aftertaste is not that bad though.
Solo sufficiente costa di più del diplomatico riserva exclusiva ed è meno buono
Zacapa is one of my favorites. The notes and taste of this rum warms my heart. Zacapa would be the rum for any occasion.
Expensive expensive for what really is....no quality blend solera Fancy merchandicing...
with a can of Coca-Cola, lots of ice and a lemon in a disco you can enjoy ... hangover assured .. no doubt ..
I can't believe I didn't rate this back when I first tried it a few months ago! It must have been because it was very memorable... or perhaps because it's a real aged rum... or perhaps because it's not a sweet concoction... or perhaps because the "23" is a blatant lie... But oh no, it's closer to a liqueur, with added flavourings and colourings. Tasty, but not a rum. And the 23 is pure atrezzo. And EVEN then, the flavours are not that interesting!
The aroma is smooth and strong vanilla (maybe a bit of vanillin fell in with the sugar?). The flavour profile includes toffee, raisins and more vanilla. Tastes simple but "feels" nice, however this Christmas pudding flavour is never what one should expect from a real spirit.
A good regular rum, a bit too sweet. The rum is for starters, with not much experience in rum tasting.
Rich in flavour and the aftertaste is one of the most surpricing pleasure of this fantastic products.
This is the rum that turned me. Amazing. Until I tried Appleton 21....
On tasting this rum, I had little doubt that this makes most any drinker satisfied. It is creamy, rich and fruity. It has a moist and hearty bouquet of dates and molasses for me and it has a tart cherry, vanilla and caramel taste initially on the tongue. It transfers to a very slight burn and then the date, brown sugary finish. It is smooth and easy to like and drink. It is not the least expensive in its class but is available anywhere from end of the world outposts to even snooty wine bars. It tastes great but does not conquer all.
Not the most spectacular rum on earth but really nothing to complain about. An easy drinkable rum with a nice dark brown colour...
Lo esperable de Zacapa, color dorado oscuro, notas dulces de cafe tostado y vainilla, mantecoso.
Nice taste but way too sweet to deserve a better rating.
First, I do not know enough of Rum - yet!
So for me it is all about taste and this is smooth, not so sweet and good!
