Diplomatico 2005

One of the greatest venezuelean rum. Good balance, a lot of flavours, sublime aftertaste. In one word, great.

Being a self confessed diplomatico fan girl and after reading the reviews dripping in compliments here, I was thrilled to get my hands on a bottle of this. Everything started off well with lovely complex caramel and vanilla exploding over the tastebuds but the feisty, fiery finish was a deal breaker for me.

Smooth and really nice, lots of vanilla and a nice sherry finish !

Very well balanced, sweeter, but not too much (like12y for example) complex body with molasses, wood, chocolate and fruits. Nice smooth and long aftertaste. Unfortunately I don't had 2004 for direct comparison :-( need to repeat it again one day :-)

First sip gives a nice sweet heat.that lingers in the back of the throat. I get a spicy citrus note with a raisin like finish.

I drank this side by side with the Diplomatico 2000, 2001, and 2002, which are all some of my all time favorite rums. The bottle was identical with the exception of the vintage. Smell and taste were also nearly identical. I ever so slightly favored the older vintages as they seemed a little sweeter, while this was slightly drier.

Has a great smell of rich butter toffee, caramel, and butterscotch, with a light sherry taste that isn't strong enough to detract from the rum. Taste is a great follow up to the nose. So good, the 43%abv strength is perfect. Another great rum from Diplomatico!

La belle robe ambrée de ce rhum en dit long sur ses propriétés ! J’apprécie le diplomatico réserva exclusiva, mais le Diplomatico 2005 joue dans les ligues majeures. Très bien équilibré et épicé, chaque gorgée laisse paraître des notes de vanille et de cuir, enflammant subtilement toute la bouche. La finale assez persistante laisse apprécier tout le savoir-faire de la distillerie vénézuélienne Unidas.
J’ai hâte de goûter au Diplomatico Ambassador Sélection !

Nez timide, Robe pas très foncé. Sur des aromes de cerise, canelle, fruits et épices. Belle complexité mais un peu dispendieux

Very well balanced, subtle sweetness and vanilla flavor, better than the 2002 in my opinion, probably the best rum I have ever tried, well done Diplomatico!!!

Tasted 8/25/22, #3 of 3 in a Steph Diplomatico flight, and my 200th rum in the Kill Devil rum club passport. The rum that made me an Admiral.
Delicious! A very smooth rum, sips gently. Very tasty.
Recommend sipping this neat.
