Aroma is wood and vanilla. Taste is fruity with honey and appricote tones. Aftertaste is long going from bitternes to smooth end with hint of vanilla. Very good agricole, more similar to Foursquare rums, than typical agricole.

Enjoyed a bottle of J. Bally Edition 2000 17y rum while in the Finnish wilderness. Very nice and unique bottle and label design. Golden color. Plenty of oak and super dry Rhum Agricole grassy flavors to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Super dry burn at the end.

NR: Good but not the best agricole 9 out of 10

We have an 17 year old agricole here, bottled with 58.1% alcohol strength from Martinique.
Smell: A grassy and at the same time sweet honey smell greets me. I notice sugar cane, green apples, guava and fermented fruits, maybe even some glue. The smell reminds me a bit of the taste of the durian fruit. Deeper in the glass, the rhum is darker, there are barrel aromas and wood.
I still notice a few spices like pepper and nutmeg.
A smell that balances between light and dark aromas.
Taste: The rum starts grassy, a bit more sour instead of sweet. It's a little different from the smell. I notice green apples, guava and peppery aromas. Then it becomes astringent and I get more barrel aromas on the palate. Towards the end it becomes sweeter with a sugar cane aroma and fermented light fruits.
Aftertaste: pear, sugar cane, fermented light fruits, some grassy notes, guava.
The aftertaste remains for a very long time. The rhum is varied. It is more acidic on the palate than in the smell. I would have liked a little more sweetness here. Good agricole but not unique.
