Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Once again Mr seale continues to blow the mind with his exceptional cask series . Incredible in depth cask flavours with slight noses of vanilla but you know that's natural and nothing is added ..
This beats anything I've had from Foursquare to include all ECS batches, and IB I've tried, and others. It's a stunner.
Another great rum from Foursquare. I normally don’t spend this much on a bottle of rum but my beautiful wife gave me a bottle for Christmas (yes I have the best wife ever). The rum is a perfect balance of sweet, wood, and aroma. This bottle will be savored slowly!
Price: ~65 euro per bottle at the moment in Europe
This single blended rum marked by “X” on label. That’s right, number ten this time - Exception Cask Selection from Foursquare distillery, Barbados. In September 2015 Foursquare launched 2004 (III), October 2017 - 2005 (VI), and the last one at the moment from “number-ex-bourbon vintages” 2007 (X) comes out in March 2019. I highlighted these three Rum’s because they have a lot common , but they are still different. Just a few examples:
2004 11 years old. 59% ABV
2005 12 years old. 59% ABV
2007 12 years old. 59% ABV
They all are Blended product from Pot and Column distillation. But the ratio between Pot and Column is quite different from year to year. So you may try them all. You will not be disappointed.
But let’s go back to 2007...
12 years old, aged in ex-bourbon casks. And this casks comes from USA, Tennessee, where previously was aged famous bourbon Jack Daniels.
This rum is very well balanced, you can easily use it with small sips. It’s sweet enough, and fruitiness comes out if you give a time to Mr. 2007. But mostly it’s dry taste Rum. Deep, Oak and Leather “dance”. Taste in your mouth will rising fast, until you cross ‘aftertaste’ line. It’s really amazing, but for me - I like 2004 just a little bit more then this 2007 version. But anyway turn on classy music, add good cigar, and all troubles will left you for today very fast.
Stay cool, drink responsibly and enjoy life. Cheers!
This provoked a fist pump out of me after my 1st sip. I knew this one was going to be good but damn, this is everything I wanted out of a rum. I would give it a 9.5 if I could.
Although I have a love/hate thing with reviewers like Fred Minnick (the Pied Piper of whiskey taters) I now get why he would exclaim subsequent to tasting: "Oh my God! Oh my God! Why does Foursquare do this to me?! I mean, they like... make such... good... rum!! MAN! This is just blowing my mind! You know I would tell you what... If more people made rum like this, you know, I don't think we'd be drinking anything else".
A tricky review to write, as this might be the weakest of the current Foursquare line-up, BUT, it's still a VERY good rum.
For me though, it's lacking a little something to really make it distinctive.
What it IS, is a beautiful example of a really good, honest rum. No added sugar, properly aged, smooth and a lovely favour.
It's just other Foursquare options are better!
Great vanilla carmel, but really, a special one-and-done sipper. Not that it’s too hot to handle, but too hot for sustained enjoyment. It will have a little bit longer shelf life than the Zinfandel cask, but keep a place its place on the shelf. It would be an awesome floater on that piña colada!
Gentle aroma with vanilla tones. First taste is sweet full and fresh. You can feel the strenght but I would not expected 58%. Aftertaste is average with nice peach tones. Very good rum 8,5 points.
Just had some of this at the source in Barbados. Good rum, alcohol forward but does not burn. i would give it a 8.5 in truth but so be it. Anyhow, great rum, smooth and non adulterated.
Tasted this at a rum tasting. We had 7 different rums without extra added sugars. It had wonderful taste and smell. And a natural sweet taste. Will bus it soon!
Rum tasting in New York City continued with Foursquare 2007 12y. Nice traditional Foursquare bottle and label design. Golden color. Dry oak mixed with very mild vanilla to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Dry and short burn at the end.
