56%. A 14 yr old rum blended in both sherry and bourbon casks and they have the blend spot on in my opinion. So much fruit when you open the bottle , naturally sweet , no additives as always.
Sips beautifully.. very rich and chewy but just the right amount of bourbon to stop the sherry taking over.. Keep making them Richard and i'll keep buying them. Hereditas next.. brought over from the U.K.

Spending this rainy Memorial Day afternoon leaving some rum ratings I longed for something new and highly rated. After a trip to the local Iiquor store I found this fabulous rum. Passing up Facundo Exquisito and Ron Abuelo Centurion that I had already had several times I choice this excellent rum. Tried it neat, then with an ice ball I recommend it neat. This is a nice dark brown cask strength rum 56% not for boys for mature rum lovers.

Right out of the barrel nothing like Pilar or Zacapa 23 that I do not like, like Havana Club Maestros on crack. This is the real deal. Solid 9 looking for a 10

I give Empery a 9, because I leave space for that magic elixir that I have yet to taste. But in all fairness I can't imagine what a 10 is going to taste like that will put it that far ahead of this? This is exquisite. I won't bore you with my tasting notes because others have given plenty of insight, but I will just say that the empty glass, the next morning, carries a lingering evidence of woody Nirvana that boggles the mind. Like when your favorite cologne invites complete strangers to inquire of the brand, this suggests a night with a new love. Staggering.

Definitely one of my top rums! Dark and complex with a beautiful finish. Love it!

Another day, another Foursquare. Aged in bourbond and sherry casks.

Great nose. I smell wood and the barrel, some gum (from the sherry cask). Then sweet flavors of caramel, dry furits, orange, red fruits and vanilla. It's balanced, nothing dominates, but nothing goes under either.

The taste starts intensive with gum, barrel, caramel and dry orange peels. The rum feels very soft in the mouth. The middle is sweet with caramel, oak, some tannins and orange peels. Gum is again at the end with some dry fruits.
The finish starts spicy, then sweet with burned sugar, oak, gum, some earth and orange peels.

Overall a great Foursquare, strong, intensive and balanced. Would rate this one with 90 points.

Taste initial: gum, barrel, caramel, red fruits and dry orange peels
Middle: burned sugar, oak, tannins, orange peels, red fruits, gum and dry fruits
Finish: spice, burned sugar, oak, gum, earth, orange peels
Aftertaste: barrel with burned sugar, gum, orange peels

Sweetness: 2.5/5
Fruits: 3/5
Spice: 3/5
Mildness: 3/5
Complexity: 3.5/5
Value (78€): 4/5

So glad I took a chance on this one. Really enjoyed it on my first tasting, and appreciated it even more after tasting it head-to-head against Premise.

On the nose, there was some similarity to Redoutable with a slight butter cream frosting and cake batter. I also found some apples and some type of dried fruit. With the initial taste, I noticed a hint of cola, followed by some vanilla. It left a slight oakiness and tobacco with a heat that faded pretty quickly. My nose and palate were being a little wonky on the day I had this, so I'm certain it will be different when I have it again (my COVID-19 vaccine seems to have screwed with my smell and taste a little bit).

As the "big" brother to Premise, I found this to be much more pronounced with the scents and flavors. A very enjoyable sipper.

At this point every rum from Foursquare is a winner in my eyes and this is no exception. It starts off with a beautiful nose of dried fruit with some vanilla. The nose pails to the first taste which even though is sweet is still complex with spice and the flavor of the bourbon and sherry casks. I've written this before regarding the other Foursquare offering but the fact the they can make something taste so smooth and complex without additives is a testament to how it should be done. I love this rum and wish I bought more than one bottle.

I have no words to describe the delight my tastebuds have just experienced.

I really enjoyed this bottle. It was a little spicy in the beginning but my tastes either adjusted for it or the bottle mellowed and as I finished it I was craving more.

Very pungent. Intense, getting some grassy Agricole flavors somehow. Way more complex than the others
