Frigate Reserve 12-Year

I'm not aficionado but I enjoy everything about this bottle of rum. Taste, look and the collaboration behind the brand. Fishing, hunting and a fire pit.

Picked this up on a trip. meant to take it home but it was so good it only last 3 days. Great as a sipper and in simple cocktails like a traditional daiquiri.

Tasted at the Laka Lono rum club on 3/22/23. Dark gold brown. Aroma of merengue pie topping. Sweet, honey flavors. Fruit . Thicket than the 8. Big honey finishes

I enjoyed sipping this rum. Dry, not sweet at all. Nice burn. Really pleasant nose. Tastes like rum should taste.

Light in taste reasonably priced for a 12yr. Another Panama situation.

I did a lazy two for one review between the 15 year and 12 year, mainly because such a comparison is absolutely essential to judging rum from this fairly new company. I would not hesitate to buy their 15 year old again at $48 as it is among the top five value rums costing more than $45 US. This 12 year old at $33 US is not bad at all, but is best used for avoiding dipping into the very expensive part of one's collection after a few tastings. By all means add spring water to this one to bring out the flavors and lower the burn.

Update only a few hour later: Sorry, but Don Q Anejo serves as a much tastier and cheaper alternative to avoid dipping into one' s expensive collection. I have no other choice except to drop this rum down from my initial rating of 7 to a 6. Sorry!
