This rum covers a wide base of rim drinkers and those who are new to the world of rum. Just delicious and an absolute must have.

Your nose is greeted by a big sweet brown sugar and caramel scent. There are obvious relations to it's younger brother, but the XO offers more fireworks and refinement. The palate is also clearly in relation, but with more instruments playing the band. There are very pleasant notes of caramel, dried fruits, vanilla, roasted nuts, brown sugar and baked banana with a very subtle dryness in the end, fighting to even out the big bodied sweetness. The amounts of added sugar however, seems to overpower most of the palate.

8: On the nose, you know it's going to be suave. The two aromas that share the limelight are banana and caramel.
8: On the palate, the profile is a little more complex. The attack is soft. The caramel is still there, but the banana disappears in favor of vanilla and roasted notes. Discreet pepper makes a brief appearance.
7: The finish is medium. The sweet sensation lingers on the palate for some time. Vanilla and a slight woodiness dominate.

Very smooth with an inital taste of unsweetened dark chocolate and coffeee, the vanilla and caramel flavors are more in the background. Nicw complexity.

After reading the reviews here I have bought one of the last bottle in my preferred shop... and, well, maybe because it was stored for a very long time in a place with some sunlight, maybe because I was expecting too much, but well for now I rate this XO just a little bit above 6/10. I will give it a second try to see if something's changed after the opening.
UPDATE: after a couple of days this has changed a bit. maybe needed some air after so long time. better now, not my favourite but definitely enjoyable. I have updated my rating to 7/10. will try again in a month.

Beautiful color, the noze is very complexe, it takes a long oxygenation to detect hints of vanilla , honey, tropical fruit , smoked side of a cigar box. Once in the mouth, the roundness of this rum bursts to release its sweetness and reveal banana notes with a very smoky side but still reveals toffee. Sweet, sweet , sweet !
Great experience. I prefer the more robust rum but it's was a pleasure to taste this one for my birthday. I still have a problem with the design of the bottle. I don't like the square one and the character font, it's like a very bad trip in Mexico ;-) I I like the roundness of caribbean girls ;-) But it will be a 10.
