Ron Millonario Reserva Especial 15 rum is created from molasses using a 1930's Scottish column still and aged in American and Slavonian oak casks up to 15 years using the solera blending method.
The Ron Millonario company was founded in 1950, and in 2004 was purchased by the Italian Fabio Rossi.
Recommendable to most
This rum is very original because full of unique features : smooth but powerful, vanilla and tobacco, rural bootle but classy liquid.
It has a well-marked nose, which announces a great taste : sweetness first, green tobacco and natural power in the end. A slight afterburner and a long finish. A very good sipper, much more dynamic than the excellent, end-of-the-evening sipper that is the Ron Millonarion XO, I recommend too.
This rum has aromas similar to the Millonario XO. It is in the same relationship to the Millonario XO as the Zacapa 23 to the Zacapa XO.
These four are my favorites. The Millonario 15 is jounger, cheaper and a simpler alternative to the XO. However, I would put both rums on my shelf.
If you love sweet rums based on molasses, go for it.
I love rums wird herbs aromas.
Smell: glue, herbs (parsley is very itensive), burned suggar, caramel, fruits in the background (peach, banana, raisins), barrel.
Taste: parsley, sweetness (caramel, peaches), spice, coffee, fruit, vanilla, wood, some glue.
Finish: middle long, sweet dark chocolate with parsley, spice.
Aftertaste: sweetness, then sherry.
Let it stand in the glas for 30 minutes, then the smell of glue disappears.
Production: Blend, 4-Rows-Solera
Barrel: American white oak & Slavonian oak
Sweetness: 3.5 / 5
Spice: 2.5 / 5
What's special: Distilled in three old Scottish column stills. They use their own yeast (don't know which kind).
