I was surprised to get a sample of Kalembu Guavaberry in the RR tasting set. Ready to try something different, I was not sure what to expect from this spiced, 30% rum, as I have never tried guavaberry.
In the glass it is unusually dark and thick. It forms huge, slowly-descending tears and covers the walls with thick film. Doubtlessly, it's a heavily sugared rum.
The nose is harsh, overwhelming with sweet, syrupy odore. I doubt it is a natural aroma of guavaberryI would describe it as artificial, hard-candy-like and somehow floral. The aroma is not intense and can be sensed only after sticking the nose inside the glass.
Sipping this rum is like drinking cough syrup. It's thick and watery, with no burn at all. Artificial fruity notes with licorice somehow make it through the tons of sugar. Again, the taste is not intense and disappears almost immediately. Neither finish, nor aftertaste conclude this degustation.
Either guavaberry is an extremely sweet fruit which tastes like a syrup, or this rum is just another artificially-spiced sugar bomb. Rarely do I fail to finish a 2cl glass but this tasting was just unpleasant.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Had just a sample, but I think my judgment will be fair enough.
It’s quite a lot of mint chocolate in this one too (compare it to the Mamajuana), but not as nearly so significant as in the Mamajuana.
There’s also something else, probably guava berry (don’t know how it tastes), that’s making it more interesting than the Mamajuana.
So overall I think it’s a little bit better than the Mamajuana, but can’t recommend it if you’re not a fan of flavored rum, which I isn’t.
