United States | Spiced | 35% ABV
Launched in 2011, Bacardi Oakheart is the newest addition to the extensive Bacardi collection.
This spiced rum is aged for 1 to 2 years, filtered using a proprietary process, and then flavored with various spices including maple, nutmeg, cinnamon and honey.
Bacardi Oakheart took over two years to name and more than 2700 names were considered. The winner, Oakheart, is a reference to the charred American white oak barrels that house the rum while it ages.

Very tasty rum. Great on the rocks, but also with cola.

I can't give enough praise to this Bacardi variety. I don't usually like the brand and this particular rum is in a lower tier price segment, but the flavour is well balanced, the rum is smooth, fruity and yet leaves a rich, warm aftertaste that begs for another sip.
It works straight up or with coke, and is definitely not a special occasion rum, but a most excellent everyday drink.

Bacardi usually gets a bad reputation for poor rum with a great marketing team.
But I feel they have come out with a decent (not great) product. Its basically a butter scotch rum with a heaver hand on the brown sugar. Drinking it straight its nothing special but in a cocktail it shows its dominants and its on individual take on the drink. I recon give it ago with
50ml oakheart
50ml clear apple juice
50ml ginger ale
and a squeeze of lime juice
all on ice in a highball glass
Au top pour mélanger avec un coca, ou avec citron+sucre.
Par contre assez moyen seul.

Comparable au Captain Morgan Spiced, il n'est pas mauvais en Cuba Libre.
A éviter en dégustation !
Not complex but good enough to sip neat kinda sweet and easy to sip

This rum takes me back to my early 20s, when rum for me was Captain Morgan and Bacardi. This used to be one of my favourites too mix with coke.
Wouldn't even think about trying it straight up.

From drinking Morgan to oakheart I can taste slightly different taste.

Between the even mixes of Morgan and the smoky robust flavor of Oakheart, fans of spiced rums should have their fill between the two. Brings to mind a classic grill with the smoke of charcoal seeped into the meat.
'oak barrels to impart a rich and smoky taste'

Smooth but it is also very sweet.
"There's a slight burn of alcohol and the spicing is maybe just a bit too much. There is also a slightly jarring aftertaste. It’s a bit smoky and oily."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

We bought few bottles of this rum as cheap but fancy collection of hard liqueur for big birthday party and it was the first kind that ran out. Good with coke, as a shot with friends during the night, not a sipper, but this was made for different purpose. For the money it made us good service
