En super rom, med en lidt røget smag.
En af de bedste rom jeg har nogensinde har fået.

Lot 21 266 7491 a beautiful dark amber spirit initially enjoyed neat. The nose picked up a bit of alcohol on the pour mellowing sweetly with time. Smooth on first sip with sweet rich molasses on the tongue dissipating to a dry finish. It begs to be sipped again. The nose improves nicely with each sip. Priced higher than an every man’s rum I wanted this to be a stellar 10 but the dry finish is more than this guy likes. Purists may frown but I tried dropping an ice cube in, softening the rich sweetness and bringing a hint of caramel to the palate and subduing the dry finish. I much prefer it with an ice cube. Truly an outstanding rum. The price point says I shall enjoy it in moderation.

Caramel aroma with touch of barrel; cocoa and caramel in body but short.

Doesn't get any better than this. Full of flavour. A bit soft on the nose. Not on the sweet side.

This rum truly has it all. I get fruit on the front, mainly apricots and banana but not over ripe. Then the sweet caramel molasses comes followed by a nice spiced tobacco. It honestly finishes like a cigar dipped in cognac. It’s ultra smooth from start to finish and sweet the entire way through. I honestly don’t prefer sweet rums but this one is truly great regardless of my own preference and I can certainly appreciate the quality and skill that it took to craft this rum.

You need to sit in a large cushioned leather chair when drinking this rum. Maybe a cigar in your hand (lit or unlit) lol.

This is a 40% ABV solera from Costa Rica, made from a blend of rums aged between 8 and 30 years. The rums are aged in charred American white oak barrels after whiskey, bourbon and wine. Only a limited number of bottles are produced each year.

Bottle: Luxury, comes in a nice case
Colour: Dark Amber

Nose: Very smooth and pleasant without any alcohol pungency. There were recognized vanilla, caramel, sweet raisins, whisky, tobacco and charred wood in the nose.
Taste: Velvety sweet with a slight burn on the tongue and in the throat. I have to say that it's really good rum. The rum has a syrupy consistency and in addition to vanilla and caramel, there are again raisins, honey, sweet orange, almonds, liqueur wine and very subtle oak wood.
Aftertaste: Medium long

Conclusion: This is a really excellent rum and for the selling price (approx. 100 EUR in CZ) it is a really bargain. Lovers of sweet rums can add the missing half point.

Rating: 9.5 out of 10
