Not very impressed. Think twice if you prefer dry or pungent rums. You'll like this if your in the El Dorado camp. For the price I would have liked the ABV to at least be 42%. Bottled at 40% with this amount of sweetness is not for me and it's obviously catered to an audience that prefers smooth over interesting. There is some depth here but I just keep getting distracted by sugar and cola always rushes to mind.

Being a solera system the '25' years can be a bit deceiving, sure there is rum at the bottom of the stack thats been around for 25 years but it's always mingling with spirits trickling down from the top. I'm okay with this method but it always seems to produce overly sweet end results. Thinking of Papas Pilar and a triple cream sherry that uses the pyramid. And I'm not certain that sugar hasn't been added as well. Given the sweetness I can only assume it has and if it hasn't then it's a bit of an achievement how Centenario got to this point of cloy unadulterated.

There are far far better rums at this price. Especially if you like distillers such as Foursquare or Richland. Wish I could return the Centenario and get one of those. Looks like I need to work on my time machine.

Sweet, smooth, complex, and every other word I can’t think of. Everything I want in a rum. It has a great depth of the different flavors that makes this enjoyable from first to last sip. Has the delicious molasses with some later notes of sugar. The oak is subtle but not overpowering.

Definitely one of my all around favorite rums! Great flavor and goes with pretty much any food!

Not the best but it does the job. Centenario 30 is the best from this brand from what I've drank until now

Slight notes of vanilla and rosin (or wood notes) some sweetnest to nose also. After swirling/agitating the drink in the glass very strong ethanol flavour rises to the nose.

Taste has some sweetness, molasses or brown sugar, but only slightly. End-taste has stronger alcohol notes, maybe even a bit cognac like dryness, and the sweetnes disappears as it becomes a bit tart - and just at the end slight sweetness coats the whole mouth. Taste of barrel also rises a bit towards the end.

Flavours, whichbare not super strong, are well in balance and this is a bit more complex rum for beginners ( = me) who might prefer e.g. Matusalem.

Süsslich, gehaltvoll, aber nicht überfordernd. So schliesst man einen heissen Sonntag ab.

I love rum, and I like to try several top editions. This one is the best I taste ever. It has a very pleasant bouquet. In the noite, it is warm, gentle, so pleasant. And it has a wonderful sweet after taste. Unfortunately, it is not so easy to be found. But, for sure, despite far from being cheap, it is very worthwhile.

Tasted at Laka Lono Sunday June 4, 2024, 3/3 of the Steph Centenario flight
Color: deep amber
Aroma: aged sweetness
Flavor: there's a strength of character here that is evocative of a fine cigar. This rum should only be sipped, slowly.

Beautiful darker amber colour. A little alcohol on the nose, with sugary notes, cola, and some light ripe fruit. On the tongue there's more alcohol, some caramel, burnt sugar, maybe some marzipan. Flavour is pleasant, but not complex. Very smooth without much burn going down. I found a bit of plum taste. Some have said it is too sweet. I don't find it so. I do recommend one ice cube to open the flavours a bit. Very good rum that comes close to matching its price by value. I am curious to try the 20 and 30 now. Probably an 8.5, but I rounded up.

I buy this rum as soon as I get off the air plane in Costa Rica. This is one of the best rums I have tasted.
