Ron Centenario 20-Year rum is produced from Costa Rican sugar cane which is turned into molasses before aging in American white oak barrels up to 20 years using the solera aging system.
The company producing Ron Centenario 20-Year rum used to be named Seagram de Costa Rica, but in 2002 changed its name to Centenario Internacional. The rum wasn't sold outside of Costa Rica until 2007.

The Centenario XX is the big brother of this one... which was the one that opened my eyes to the world of rum... and since then, I've been looking for perfection...

This well crafted solera will please most rum fans. It just doesn't really have anything to make it stand out from the pack. Slightly overpriced imo.
Tested together with Zacapa XO. Centenario is in my opinion in same legau or even better, depending of what you prefer. Centenario is a little bit sweeter but also thicker. i will buy again!👍🏻👍🏻

Not too strong. Just smooth enough to be pleasant but not too sweet as to be weak or lame. Very good value for the money. Best enjoyed on the rocks with good company in the sun on any beach in Costa Rica.
Il faut toujours avoir une bouteille de centenario 20 dans sa cave, à défaut du 25.
Il plaira aux novices ainsi qu'aux confirmés ce qui prouve son talent.

Once again, not a fan of overly sweet rum but centenario is an exception. Drinking straight up is a must.
Non sans rappeler le Diplomatica Reserva. Doux, vanillé, il reste subtil et très intéressant. Il donne envie de gouter au 30 ans !

A good, but too sweet rum.
Dont take the 20 as "real years" - it only says "20 years solera system" which means, that this is a "blend" of differently aged rums in which the "oldest" is 20 years, not the youngest.
Sugar: 40 gpl. This is a sweet but very smooth rum. The port and sherry is quite evident in the color, smell, and taste. Very similar to the Papa's Pilar Dark and the Dos Maderas PX 5+5. Almost no after burn. Great rum to serve to Port or Sherry drinker. I would purchase this again.
Updated April 2018. After sampling the 30 year old version I decided to move this down to an 8. Still a very good rum, but the 25 year old is much better and is just a bit more per bottle.
Mature, oily, complex...just a bit too sweet but a lovely velvety truly special tipple
Really good but 25 year is better. Go for the 25.
