The color of this rum is a rich mahogany by way of deep dark amber. Delightful aroma revealing a sweetness to it.

Tasting it reveals it to be sweet. Very sweet. I haven't tested it scientifically but it tastes as if there has been sugar or some sweetening agent added to this rum. And that's a shame. It just seems a tad too sweet and thus I deduct a point. Otherwise this would have been a solid 8...perhaps a 9. However this does not make it a BAD rum. Just a little too sweet for my personal tastes. Take it for what it's worth. It does qualify as a sipping rum HOWEVER I would consider it one to have as an after-dinner treat. A dessert rum if you will.

NOTE: I rated the Ron Centenario 25-year a "9" and still am of the opinion that it is a great rum but the 20-year seems sweeter to me. I realize that sometimes rums will vary from batch to batch and perhaps my 20 came from a batch that was sweeter than intended.

On an aside, this might be a good rum to use in rum balls. I haven't tried it but it seems to be well suited for such a purpose.

The sweetness seems to be aimed at the American consumer. If sugar or some sweetening agent were indeed added, I wonder what it would have tasted like without it.

Super long avant de trouver une bouteille au canada. Un goût d épicee et de fruit. Bonne longueur en bouche et complexe. Je le suggère à tous.

With so many great ratings, I'm not sure how mine went so wrong for the Centenario 20, which I sipped on at Rumfest London 2016. I found it to be seriously sweet, far too much for me - and I have a hugely sweet palette! Notes of nutmeg and wheat came through as well, with a short nice finish. I'm being gracious with my 6, really it was closer to 5 but other based on other opinions I'm guessing either my bottle was a little off or my taste buds were acting up. I'll try it again when I can

This is good rum.
I prefer it with three drops of water to make it smoother and to soften the burn.
I like sweet rum and this is a fine piece for my collection

simple Spanish style rum. Many do it better. Painfully sweet. Nice spanish style nose,
but down hill from there. I read the ratings and wonder if we are talking about the same product. UGH.
