The color of this rum is a rich mahogany by way of deep dark amber. Delightful aroma revealing a sweetness to it.

Tasting it reveals it to be sweet. Very sweet. I haven't tested it scientifically but it tastes as if there has been sugar or some sweetening agent added to this rum. And that's a shame. It just seems a tad too sweet and thus I deduct a point. Otherwise this would have been a solid 8...perhaps a 9. However this does not make it a BAD rum. Just a little too sweet for my personal tastes. Take it for what it's worth. It does qualify as a sipping rum HOWEVER I would consider it one to have as an after-dinner treat. A dessert rum if you will.

NOTE: I rated the Ron Centenario 25-year a "9" and still am of the opinion that it is a great rum but the 20-year seems sweeter to me. I realize that sometimes rums will vary from batch to batch and perhaps my 20 came from a batch that was sweeter than intended.

On an aside, this might be a good rum to use in rum balls. I haven't tried it but it seems to be well suited for such a purpose.

The sweetness seems to be aimed at the American consumer. If sugar or some sweetening agent were indeed added, I wonder what it would have tasted like without it.

Rum is very sweet, but not annoying. Good feeling alcohol on tongue, very pleasant. Also sweet smell. Very good choise for sipping when you want something more sweet.

Very smooth and sweet while dark and heavy. Round bouquet but sharp on the tongue. Full of taste, definitely not a mixer. Good but doesn't entirely hit my taste.

Super rumík. Mírně sladší profil v kterém cítím jahody, třešně, jablka, broskve s ostřejším dojezdem. To kvůli sudu z bílého dubu ve kterém byla whiskey. Rád vyzkouším další kousky od Centenario. Seženete ho do 800,- .

By comparing this to all the rums I have taste that costs ~50 Euros is by far the best one.

Čím starší tím je centenario tím je sladší a uhlazenější v chuti se mi zdá. Celkem výrazná vanilka.

I can see why this rum is liked by many. It is sweet and smooth, requires minimal effort really.
I had high hopes, as this is in the higher end of what I am willing to spend on a rum. Accordingly, I was let down quite a bit when I found that this is a sugary, smooth, almost viscose rum liqueur.
Taste is - to me - mostly that of Spanish brandy. Sweet, dried fruits, a hint of almond, very smooth presentation. Which is fine, but I can have a better experience with a Spanish brandy half the price (Osborne Magno for example).
Too sweet, too smooth, nothing interesting. Useful for sweetening other rums, but I rarely do that. Stupid waste of money for me. But thus I learn...
Would like to taste what it would be like without all the added sugar.
