Bacardi Gold rum

Bacardi Gold

United States | Gold | 40% ABV

Bacardi Gold rum is manufactured in Puerto Rico where it is distilled from fermented molasses. It is then filtered through charcoal and aged in charred oak barrels for between 1 and 2 years. Unlike Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold is only filtered once.

Bacardi's official logo, a fruit bat, dates to 1862 when founder Don Facundo Bacardi found fruit bats living in rafters of the building he bought to house the distillery. Bats are considered an omen of good luck in Cuba and have emblazoned Bacardi rum bottles ever since.

Netter than the white, but or doesn't live up to it's promise. Nice as a mixer, but nothing more.

Nothing wrong with this rum and was my "go to" along with Lambs. And then I discovered rum ratings and found there were better rums and better values with this experience. Enjoy the journey! Thanks Rum ratings!

A step up from the worst of the well but that's about it. It has little to no real flavor

The title says it all. Its exactly what you expect out of a $15 bottle of rum. It burns in the mouth, it doesnt go down great, but when push comes to shove, it definitely gets the job done better than most in this price range. Its one of those 'I will drink it if its there, but I wont go buy it for myself' kind of rums. It may surprise you to have a a little sweetness and spice if you can really taste for them, but if you just want something cheap, with no surprises, this is the bottle for you!

I cannot imagine taking this neat. It's cheap, so at least it has that going for it. The only problem is that it adds a horrible gasoline like flavour even to mixes. You can have a double of something very slightly more expensive (assuming you know what you're buying) and it will go down smoother than a single out this with the same amount of mixer. The rum should make the mixer taste better, and this does the opposite.

I have tried, and I can never go for a second glass.

It's not as bad as some people here make it out to be, that's for sure. If you think this is the very bottom of rums then you haven't had the cheap rums I've been having. You are probably better off with Morgan Gold (which has really nailed this kind of rum at this price point) but this is not a big step down. The aroma is very alcohol-forward, and the flavor unfortunately follows suit. That being said, it is relatively smooth and still has its own distinct spicy flavor, keeping it from feeling like a bottle of brown ethanol. The elegant-looking bottle makes it look pricier than it is, and if you're looking for something more straightforward than the spiced selection on the market at the same low price, then this can do as a good mixer and barely decent sipper.

It's cheap and you can get it in a handle and mix it all day.

This is a good basic gold rum for mixing... it's my everyday go to.
