Bacardi Gold rum

Bacardi Gold

United States | Gold | 40% ABV

Bacardi Gold rum is manufactured in Puerto Rico where it is distilled from fermented molasses. It is then filtered through charcoal and aged in charred oak barrels for between 1 and 2 years. Unlike Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold is only filtered once.

Bacardi's official logo, a fruit bat, dates to 1862 when founder Don Facundo Bacardi found fruit bats living in rafters of the building he bought to house the distillery. Bats are considered an omen of good luck in Cuba and have emblazoned Bacardi rum bottles ever since.

I will probably take heat over this review but for some reason I have never warmed up to Bacardi rum. It is consistent in its taste but it just is not my go to rum at all. Their pricing is good but for me the taste is less than desirable.

For mixing only. And there are better out there at the same price, though cheap as it is.

Harsh rum that is angry at you for drinking it and wants to punish you as much as possible! Definitely a mix-in kind of rum. Not for sophisticated palettes. Flavor is ok, but reminds me of axle grease or something - weird undertones of something like grease or tar. Hints of vanilla and carmel, but a huge flavor of oak and that other thing.

This is really dangerous type of alkochol. Karmelaized. It is like sugar liquor. Don't even try it. Also CM gold version is deadly as this.

A little bit of harsh nose. Alcohol forward at first with a little burn, no unpleasant but it mixes well in Tiki drinks.

Much milder than Bacardi's white ones, few aromes. Good for mixing, don't sip it.

Bacardi Gold is the cheap rum students use to spike rum & coke. It has very little character or subtlety. For the tiny price difference, I'd much rather go with something along the lines of Appleton V/X.

Solo para tragos donde el ron no sea el sabor principal. Piña colada, coco loco, mojito ok. Cuba libre, no tanto. Y con agua jamás...
