Solid performance from the manufacturer.
The smell is amazing, I love this fruity sweet aromas. It reminds me of Zacapa.
I can tell you, this is a good rum for small money. I think the most Zacapase are based on rums like Ron Botran 15 and Ron Botran 1893.
I have the old bottle, what a beauty for just 28€.

A fresh bottle is not that aromatic and has too much wood aroma. But after some months the rum gets better with oxygen in the bottle.

Smell: Caramel, herbs, fruits (mandarine), dried fruits (plum), some wood, vanilla, lard (very nicely balanced, not too sweet)
Taste: mandarine, caramel, herbs, burned sugar, toasted barrel (wood), nutmeg, spice.
Finish: earth/cask, spice, wood, bitterness
Aftertaste: typical sherry aftertaste, cherry compote, orange

Country: Guatemala
Place: Quetzaltenango
Barrel: American white oak, whiskey, pot and sherry wine barrels
Material: Virgin Cane Honey
Age: 5-18

Sweetness: 1.5/5
Spice: 3/5
Fruit: 3/5
Mildness: 3.5/5
Value (27€): 4.5/5

Alcool présent. Rhum sec avec une certaine rondeur. Note de caramel et d'épice.

Better average, not surprising but you'd be able to drink it the whole night long.

For its price it is reasonable but I had to add ice and/or coke. Don’t have the balances needed to drink it as a brandy

Disappointment. That's the first and last feeling about this. First you taste watery alcohol, then bit harsh biting. Finish has some fruit and warm, but with oaky note. Drinkable, not even near worth the price.

The flavor is similar to the higher level Botran Solera 18, only without the sherry aspect. A competent albeit boring molasses and wood, can extract burnt sugar when giving it a proper mouth wash.

The perfect aroma is promissing more than you get. First taste is alcohol kick and you must search for more layers and tones. The sweet is natural and pleasant, aftertaste not long and burning.

Nice oak aroma, full taste, tones of candied fruits, too spicy. I bit dry, sweet touch.

Good quality solera rum a tad too expensive in my opinion! Sampled this rum at Cardiff Rum Festival on the weekend. It's a decent sipper and I feeling would be better as a cocktail base. Did purchase a bottle for £40 and polished it off in the night so that's got to say something

At first aroma and taste match, but suddenly the alcohol + spice kicks in and is a totally different story.
