Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Originally named Bacardi Black, this rum is now called Bacardi Select. The recipe is the same, which consists of a blend of aged rums, charcoal-filtered once before resting for at least 4 years in American White Oak.
Dont waste your money on this thing. Its same trash as Morgan just not with as good PR as Morgan has. Its pretty useless to write anything about taste or smell here. Simple said - its aweful and you should avoid it.
Like many a bacardi bottle, you can pass this one up.
Very intense flavour of.... YUK, you can't even use it for mixing with coke.
The only bottle i ever bought aged out in my cabinet until now, and every time i dare to unscrew it, a noseful of the scent reminds me of never drinking this again.
Not recommended. Not enough mix to make it taste better.
Není až tak spatny. Ale nejvíce se hodí asi do míchaných koktejlů. Na popíjení v čisté formě jsou jiné rumy.
This is not a special one or anything like that... hence not the best taste even in cocktails...
As a broke college student, this is not the worst thing I have had (this is coming from a guy who doesn't mind drinking cheap). It does not taste like a rum at all. It is rum disguised as a whiskey. To me it tastes like a cheap scotch that the makers realized that it tasted like shit so they tried to make it as oaky as possible. But if you were to say, mix it 3:1 Bacardi Black to Amaretto, it might give you a decent godfather, but that means buying amaretto in order to drink it.
Bra att ha i grogg. Definitivt inte för sig själv.
Mixed with Coke and it is okay. Pure is the taste not so okay.
Really not into mixing Rum anymore. Reminds me of spring break fun.
Tried drinking this on the rocks at a wedding recently and just couldn't stomach it. Certainly made me appreciate my rum cabinet at home. Didn't try it in a mixer, but I couldn't recommend this rum to anyone.
Goed om te mixen, net als de Oakheart.
Voor de rest niet echt voor puur drinken
Muy malo, deja un retro gusto amargo. Nada recomendable ni que te lo regalen.
Tast of hangover and even in coke I would not drink it!!
I like this in my coke - a lot actually. The taste is good for that mix, but the sharpness of the alcohol is a bit too much for a double or triple in my opinion.
Sharp afterburn, a bitter coffee-chocolate taste or maybe its the added caramel.
In the beginning I didn't like it at all, but after two or three times I started to like this Black. Rating based on mix with a coke.
Rum for masses - with mixers go fine, though straight is a bit different story..
Ik vind deze persoonlijk lekker .................,,
Degustace proběhla s Ráďou Hronkem takže zkušenost dobrá. Rum za rozumné peníze, lehce sladký s drsnějším koncem, nikterak zvláštní není ale nezklamal...
use to love this rum with coke and lime but as I grew so did my palate
It's a so so kind for me
imagine taking turpentine and infusing it with chard oaky wood from last nights bon fire.... thats about where your at here. it wants to be a oaked spiced rum but is thin on oak and spice. ok in a mixer.. not a sipper. kinda leaves you wanting to reach for a different rum to make the taste that sits in the back of your throat go away
I despise Bacardí in favour of Havana Club. It's harder with top shelf bottles, but it's easy with basic selection. Overall quality score is better for Havana and the price tag is almost the same. Havana miss the Dark rum and Oro/Gold one, but they are not essential. As I occasionally enjoy Havana 3 Aňos on rock, Bacardí is no go here. Bacardí basics are bit better than Morgan's, but you can get Morgan's with lower price tag and makes it better pick, even though the Bacardí Black has better taste. But not that much.
You can't even make it into Molotov either because it only tastes like gasoline, but not burn like it...
Bacardi used to make a good dark aged rum and they called it "Select". I believe that is now blended into the 8-year, which is really good but more expensive and only available in 750ml. I liked buying the Select in 1.75L but no more. I mention this because I have been told that Black is the same stuff as Select. I'm here to tell you that Bacardi Black is total crap and you couldn't pay me to drink it...
