Bacardi Black rum

Bacardi Black

EM
had this rum recently

United States | Dark | 40% ABV

Originally named Bacardi Black, this rum is now called Bacardi Select. The recipe is the same, which consists of a blend of aged rums, charcoal-filtered once before resting for at least 4 years in American White Oak.

About 17 different but bad after-tastes. Not sure why Bacardi keeps this on the market. It's just bad.

Degustace proběhla s Ráďou Hronkem takže zkušenost dobrá. Rum za rozumné peníze, lehce sladký s drsnějším koncem, nikterak zvláštní není ale nezklamal...

I despise Bacardí in favour of Havana Club. It's harder with top shelf bottles, but it's easy with basic selection. Overall quality score is better for Havana and the price tag is almost the same. Havana miss the Dark rum and Oro/Gold one, but they are not essential. As I occasionally enjoy Havana 3 Aňos on rock, Bacardí is no go here. Bacardí basics are bit better than Morgan's, but you can get Morgan's with lower price tag and makes it better pick, even though the Bacardí Black has better taste. But not that much.
You can't even make it into Molotov either because it only tastes like gasoline, but not burn like it...

Bacardi used to make a good dark aged rum and they called it "Select". I believe that is now blended into the 8-year, which is really good but more expensive and only available in 750ml. I liked buying the Select in 1.75L but no more. I mention this because I have been told that Black is the same stuff as Select. I'm here to tell you that Bacardi Black is total crap and you couldn't pay me to drink it...

I disagree with many that this is really bad. I like the "pure alcohol" taste with a "spice" flavor. Was on sale and I was on a budget. Ok in a pinch.

It's fine I guess. Another captain black knockoff, not as good, wouldn't buy again

This is only okay with coke. Not good at all. Not recommended.

Not tooo bad on ice if you don't have anything else - but lacks depth and flavor like the rest of Bacardi's stuff.

Not good straight, but among the better Bardaci 'made for mix" rums. Wouldn't ever taste this straight again. As a straight drink if give this a 2. But mixed it does the job at a very low price.

There is no color, body, or aroma to Bacardi Black. What you do get; a disgustingly pingy gasoline-like taste and absolutely no hints of anything that should belong in a rum. This is worse than doing shots of 5-oclock Vodka years ago. Stay away from this rum unless you are looking to convince someone to quit drinking for good. That is it's only useful purpose.
