Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Originally named Bacardi Black, this rum is now called Bacardi Select. The recipe is the same, which consists of a blend of aged rums, charcoal-filtered once before resting for at least 4 years in American White Oak.
Sampled Bacardi Black and was expecting a barely consumable drink on its own. Not overly sweet it is definitely not a sipping rum but tolerable in a pinch
For me the Bacardi Black has a sharp and strong flavor. This is not a sipping rum. I drink this rum with Sprite Zero and it an alternative if I can not find my rum.
The drink feels like captain Morgan black with a slight difference in taste when mixed with something. A Bandaid is not what i describe the taste, its more like a sweetened taste combined with cola the harsher black rum goes to the kraken.
This is a ok everyday “go-to” rum. Better with a mix, though not to shabby soing shots (as ling as its chilled).
Captain Morgan black - 4
Bacardi black - 4,5
Havana Club special añejo - 5
С этой бутылки - Bacardi black началась моя коллекция рома в конце 2011 года...
Bacardi BLACK is a discontinued product that was quite a great value and very good for cocktails. The garbage that they now sell as Carta Negra is good only as paint thinner.
If I had only Bacardis in the bar, I would choose this one. It’s good in the summer time by the pool. They say it is the same as Bacardi Select, but I don’t think so. Lime required or forget it.
un ron que no refleja su calidad.
Sorprendete con un sabor de Bacardi que te confirma su buena calidad con sabores y aromas que enamoran.
Definitely a mixing rum. Tried on own actually smoother than expected. A little sweet smell. Taste isn’t complex as expected thou taste not as bad as I expected from other reviews. Sipping rum it’s not but wouldn’t recommend. You get a licorice type note with a little dryness and some sweet. Ok overall
Even if they paid me i couldn't tell you anything good about it.. terrible sweet taste that leaves a negative feeling in your mouth.. not even adding coke helps this rum imo thkugh if you have a bottle, that's the best way to finish it
Well , I bought a 650 no, just to check on the new Bacardi black, really surprised me? It's so smooth and sweet, drank the entire bottle of rum . Love to buy it again and again, it's black, it's smooth, it's sweet and makes you feel perfect after the entire bottle of rum. Just wants everyone wants, to enjoy and drink, this is the best one
Black colour, taste ok not great. Have to type something hope this is 50 characters
Not a good one not even a good mixer had to drink with coke and it wasn’t pleasant
This really sucks. The taste after you drink it is horrible. I really don't like to drink this one, not even with a coke.
About 17 different but bad after-tastes. Not sure why Bacardi keeps this on the market. It's just bad.
This is rum, that is born for cuba libre.
It means, that if you would not put lime and coke inside, you will not be satisfied.
One of my favourites for Cuba Libre. Mellow and smooth, but still not for sipping.
I found this in the Philippines on a business trip once and bought it because it was about $3 in the convenience store. I've been unable to get rid of it since. It's a foul tasting beverage. It's very close to being as bad as Bundaberg. I'm actually curious how they make it this bad.
Tried the Bacardi Black rum at the Bacardi distillery in San Juan last year and it's not a neat sipper at all. Go with the Bacardi Oakheart over this one any day.
I'd list the flavours, but it's a short list... Fine:
With its dark colour I was expecting a more pronounced taste. It smells a bit the oak drum but has a medicine like after taste. It's good for mixing.
This is really not terrible IMO. Even neat it has a decent molasses flavor to it, and it goes great with Ginger beer. Glad I gave it a chance.
