Strong alcohol taste that makes it hard to identify flavors beyond caramel and vanilla. After you let it breath, it is possible to identify a fruity taste as well. It has a dry, woody aftertaste with a slightly strong kick at the end.
Recommendable if you like stronger spirits and not as sweet as the usual rums.
In nose: sweet and vanilla; some fruit as well. Remember, you have to let it breath, otherwise you will only be able to Id a lot of alcohol.
Nice aroma and color, there is a strong punch of alcohol in the first sip but let it sit for five minutes before tasting and that would make justice. Indeed excellent value for such bottle.
What a nice gift! Good rum. Unfortunately Not available in the Netherlands. Bought in the dominican rep. I enjoyed it a lot. Thank you David!
The nose of this rum is of caramel. When you start to drink it you get flavours of soft caramel and dried fruit and a nice spice as it leaves your mouth with q nice spicy burn exit. It reminds me of a light cognac when you drink it as it is a light rum. Sip it slowly and this rum will grow on you. It has a sweet finish rhat that stays moving leaving a dry finish. If you're a rum collector this is not a bad rum to own I would say it sits on the fence in regards to the overall verdict.
Many years ago, upon moving to the DR, this was my "go-to" premium rum. To this day, I still enjoy its distinctive dryness...not overly sweet. Bermudez product is getting harder to find, thus worth picking up when you see it.
6,7: Nose-My immediate reaction? Sugar. To me it actually shows up in the nose and the sweetness dominates such then leather, buttery, coffee and some orange and there was notable (and excessive) VANILLA presence.
7: The palate was consistent. The rum was heavy and thick in the glass when swirled. Very full SMOOTH body on entry with a massive, mouthcoating honey, tropical fruit, oak, caramel, toffee and a bit of leather astringency late, even some iodine, a nice hot 'n sweet lip-coating clove.
6:Finish-rather short with some pepper
Iodine usually means age under 10. So 12 y mark?
Bermudez multicolumn distillation, these rums are used also for other bottlings like Kirk&Sweeneys.
I would say it's ok, still a natural rum. The bottle is cheap and the rum is good.
Paid just 16€ for the bottle. You can sip it, you can mix it.
It's not rich and not complex, the taste is dominated by old cellar (white oak). It's a little bit like moldy old wood. It's not sweetened and that's not bad especially for the price.
Light but intense enough for sipping.
Smell: white oak, moldy old wood, some sour aromas (imagine an old whet cellar), vanilla, nuts
Taste: vanilla, some sweetness, moldy wood
Middle: old wood (wet cellar with sour notes), nuts, bitter grape seeds (tannins from the wood)
Finish: spice, oak (bitterness), vanilla, old sour cellar
This is a recogniseable and individual profile. The old wet cellar with moldy wood and sour notes is very present. The wood is quite intensive and provides some bitterness.

"It’s smooth and quite dry."
"Ron Bermudez Aniversario rum review by The Fat Rum Pirate"
Has quite a fruity nose – banana and coconut a little raisin.
"The buttery side of the rum comes out more initially on the tongue. It’s smooth and quite dry. It has a long finish. Surprisingly there is little by way of a smokiness or oaked flavour. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Not bad for a Dominican rum

Flavorful and somewhat complex due to its lengthy time aged in barrels. Some sweetness combined with just enough heat. Spice, vanilla and butterscotch flavors keep you coming back for more.
Enjoyable neat or mixed, the moderate price allows you to do both and not feel guilty about it!
