Bacardi 8 rum

Bacardi 8

United States | Aged | 40% ABV

Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.

This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

I expected more. It's a solid rum with a deep flavour and rich aftertaste, but its simplicity was dissapointed. Maybe it's just me.

plutôt doux sur glace ou allongé, bon rapport qualité/prix.

Worth it's value! I've heard a lot positive about Bacardi 8 and found it likeable.

Trouvable autour de 25e en France, pour ce prix c'est plutôt une bonne affaire.
Un nez agréable, une première gorgée excellente et une longueur en bouche convenable.
Très bon rhum de tradition espagnole, à recommander!

I had zero expectations and was truly surprised over Bacardi 8 year. I did taste against El Dorado 15 year and Ron Melacom 12 year and it was to my surprise delivering well. I paid 20 euros for it in Spain and sipping it on the terrace with see view, maybe it helped. Recommended to have for testing sessions,

At $49NZD this rum was unavoidable anymore. Presented in a professional copper canister, pouring presents an old oak coloring which gains my interest. Swirling delivers light, thin sticky legs, I'm thinking this could be good?! On the nose, I catch vanilla and settle on caramel, oak is delicate but recognizable. I am immediately reminded of port. All aromas are light and balanced. First sip and oak powers through (I wasn't expecting that!). It is bold at first and then other flavours present themselves. I am throughly pleased and pleasantly surprised! What is left behind is smokiness, quite peaty and something else is coming through? Maybe apricots right at the end. A light spiciness lingers also.
The Bacardi 8 is an experience I enjoyed. It's bold, well Oaked yet subtle aromas deliver a rum that doesn't quite make my sipper list but will live on in my memory as my most surprising. It's worth a go just to experience!

This is one of the cleanest rums i have ever tasted.. It´s not thick, not strong, not light and have none special notes.. It´s the most average rum i have ever tried. When i think of rum.. This is probably the taste.. I will not regret this buy..

Coming from bacardi it's fairly common and good value. Just about drinkable straight but maybe not enough flavour to work well with a mixer.

I give this rum a 7 for sipping straight as it never really gets the the point its making. It has a robust flavor I enjoy straight but it has too much going on at the same time. Don't get me wrong its an excellent straight sipper but not my first choice even at this price point. For a mixer I give it a 10. So an 8.5 overall.
