Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.
This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.
Nice if you feel like a little coke. It could have used more time in the barrels oops they didn't use a barrel
One of my personal favorites. Great for relaxing or hanging with friends.
One of my favorites. Kind of sweet, somewhat syrupy but very enjoyable neat.
a decent sipper. A cheaper alternative to some of the pricier darks.
A good rum for me. I don't mind as an after dinner treat.
Now that I've explored this rum a little more, I bumped my rating one notch. Somewhat sweet, fairly smooth with a moderately rich rum flavor. I rate a rum tasted neat without considering price. If rated solely on the quality for price, I'd give this one 10 stars. It's probably the best value in rum I've found and definitely a keeper. It's one of several I recommend to friends who want to explore rum beyond light Puerto Rican rum and the Captain.
I enjoy the heck out of this! Smooth n flavorful. Excellent price point! Gives the big boys a run for their money...
A quite smooth drink, compared to what you usually can expect from the brand!
Smooth molasses, liquorice, apricot, prune..
Very good rum straight or on the rocks. Highly recommend it for the price (30$ canadian)
This is my favorite rum that is easy to find. Of course there's better gems... but they're usually either harder to find or way more expensive. This, to me, is dollar for dollar the best rum I have had. It's good straight, but also mixes well.
Un bon rhum vieux, moelleux, équilibré ... classique, très abordable.
Disappointment for an 8 year old rum this was harsh and not a great blend of flavour more ruff taste that stops beginners from liking rum
Tastes like Bacardi Black just..... better. Smoother I guess. If your a fan of the Bacardis than this is quite nice. I have been drinking far too many Bacardi Blacks myself so that taste kind of bores me.
I really wanted this to be on my top shelf only to discover it makes a better mixer than a sipper. Not a bad rum for the price, better in a dark and stormy.
Bacardi 8 has a spot on my mixing shelf for now.
Not a bad rum, but for the price there are better aged rum.
that Bacardi can do more than appeal to the masses! A solid sipper or mixing rum
Possibly only Bacardi I can recommend without washing my mouth out with bleach. Quality is lack luster, but that's to be expected. For the price though, many other rums out shine it.
Una gran mezcla creada
I guess this could be a mixing rum. More fire than flavor and what flavor there was ...was flat.
Kan drikkes ren, men har en del mangler, er meget hurtig flad, derfor bedst i drinks, hvor vanille smagen også kommer lidt frem.
Ikke et genkøb
I recently used this as a mixer with ginger ale. It has a nice flavor, mixes well. I did not get a chance to sip it by itself. Could be a go-to mixer for a decent price.
Has gone down in quality in recent years as popularity has forced a little overproduction. Still a great rum on the rocks with leathery feel.
