Bacardi 8 rum

Bacardi 8

Puerto Rico | Aged

Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.

This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

For me not a sipping rum, but a good choice for mixing. Just 1 point under havana7.

Not special but a decent sipper. I bought a bottle in duty free on the way to Iceland. Sipping it neat after a cold day outside sightseeing was a perfect way to end the day!

This isn't my fave rum but it's a easy mixer and a memory of my first Bacardi black ... Bacardi 8 mixes well and easily shared with friends at a good price . Want or need a bottle for a party you can reach for this one and if you leave it behind it's not going to upset you , smooth with oakiness running through

The rum is smooth with decent creamy sweetness (it is not sweet) followed by light smoke and oak characteristic. I would say it is something you should definitely taste, even it is not something amazing or special, it is just “different” Bacardi, and the word different is very important, because this is the proof that even large distilleries can make great sipping rums.

Sometimes you can find great deals on 1l bottle... Excellent for summer coctail parties. Tastes like a real rum (compared to heaper bacardis) ... but not as good as diplomatico, el dorado ....

This is not a great rum and not a bad rum. It's a good rum. It's smooth and has a strong caramel taste. It's much nicer than pretty much all the Bacardi offerings except for the rare and expensive super aged stuff. Two things that are unique about this rum but not in a good way. One, it is one dimensional, this is strange because of its age, you expect more complexity. Two, it's watery, a bizarre term for a rum but certainly one you will understand if you compare it to a similarly aged rum like El Dorado 8 or a much better Mount Gay XO. Those two I just mentioned is where I would go instead but should you find yourself with a bottle of this, don't despair. It's a good rum.

A bit better than the other, simpler Bacardis, but still most suitable for cocktails

It's not my favorite but it's tasty. I do think it's kinda expensive for the quality.
