Bacardi 8 rum

Bacardi 8

United States | Aged | 40% ABV

Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.

This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

Definitely had the richer yet more mellow charcuterie of an aged rum vs most of what the brand produced. A nice woody flavor on the palate but just a hair too sweet. Would buy again for a bargain but likely won’t pursue over other comparable choices

She has Barcadi Silver, Barcadi Gold, and this. I cracked it open, poured a nip and thought the visit will go much better.

I know “better than Bacardi silver” is hardly a good slogan, but I’m not knocking it.

En helt okej rom. Ingen smaksensation men inte dålig, lite stark men söt. Ingen spritig smak.

Tasted neat in a glencairn
Nose: smells like rum, once the alcohol wafts away...a bit sweet and single note, like rubbing alcohol and a Werther's, if you concentrate you might find a little coffee, a little caramel, a little fruit
Mouth: not great here - some vanilla, some wood, some alcohol burn
Finish: short. Some raw wood spice for a second...
For the price point and age, it certainly won't offend anyone, but not a pour I'll be reaching for anytime soon. Boring and cloying.

Good for the price. Strangely enough, the bottle I got beat out my bottle of Ron Del Barrilito 3-star.

I held off on trying for a long time this because I simply didn't expect to like it much. But I was rather surprised by the Bacardi Diez (10 year), so I thought I'd give this one a try. I like this even better (as do several other reviewers, interestingly enough) as it's even smoother!

A very smooth rum for the price ($21.99 at Total Wines & More, 2018). And it's rather tasty too. Like the Diez, this smells and tastes of molasses, vanilla, oak, and light spice. But it goes down even easier. This a fabulous rum for the money!

I think other reviewers might be subconsciously biased against the brand and/or low price.

I've been drinking and enjoying Bacardi 8 for the past 10 years, but the new bottle I bought recently had a new label and I see that it is now made in Puerto Rico. In the past I understood that it was the last rum that Bacardi produced in the Bahamas. Anyway, this recent bottle is very bad and nothing like what Bacardi 8 has been for years. What's up??

This is a good rum. Drank it as a sipper and it was ok. Nose: Apple and rasins. Palate: smooth with taste of apple and cinnamon, not to sweet.

A bit better than the other, simpler Bacardis, but still most suitable for cocktails

This is exactly the taste that 99% people imagine when you say rum. Then i discavered that rum can taste better than your imagination, but it takes time to enjoy this rum. Not for beginers.
