Abuelo Anejo rum

Abuelo Anejo

Panama | Gold | 40% ABV

All great stories have an inspirational beginning, the same as Añejo has been for Ron Abuelo. It’s our youngest rum, both in age and spirit. Añejo is a fun and enjoyable first impression to our Panamanian rum making tradition. Where all the great stories begin.

First this is a 7.5 in my book.
Drinking neat isn't the best idea because it is somewhat harsh upfront, but not harsh in a terrible front to back way like Bacardi Gold. It gives a little sting and heat so I can see someone enjoying it neat for this unique trait. Smelling it you get a large amount of cask smell followed by some vanilla and alcohol. Drinking it cola is similar to Brugal's line, large amount of cask taste and light alcohol in background. Very good in cola would recommend in it especially at 10$ a bottle.
Notes
-Stinging upfront bite when drank neat, not too bad can be enjoyable.
-10$ a bottle cant go wrong
-One of those "woodsy" rums both smelling and taste. Similar to Brugal Rum
-Very good in cola

This is my go to rum I grew up
With rum is a good rum to mix drinks and enjoy with friends and family. It has a good smoky aromas yet is pretty smooth in mix drinks.

Tastes like cheap whiskey with added sugar. At some point I actually doubted if it was rum or bourbon. Awful

Ron Abuelo Anejo is a high-quality Panamanian spirit that, to my taste, represents a good starting point for a person acquiring an interest in rum. This iteration hints at rums in the upper echelon, and its humble price point, I think that's the best you can expect. The similarities to the Abuelo 7 Year are tangible, but not sufficient to stand on their own. It mixes best in drinks that want the rum to be "seen but not heard". Put this rum alongside it's older brother, and you have an excellent educational experience.

Definitely worth the money. I can pick it up at my local store for around $13. It's somewhat smooth, but still has a slight burn. A couple of ice cubes takes care of that though. The taste isn't as in depth as the better rums, but still decent.

This one is a very nice and smooth rum from Panama, with some vanilla and spiced notes. Nice one to serve with a cigar to me.

A smooth rum with no distinctive flaws, sweet, not too fruity

I thought it was dark rum, because of the "anejo" in the name. Nope it's Gold. Nothing spectacular. Ok for cocktails, but with the price it has it's definitely not worth it since you'd have similar taste in much cheaper gold rums. I got it on 50% sale, so it's fine.
Very unimpressive rum, nothing outstanding as flavor, and the finish is remarcably short lol.Wouldnt bother drinking it neat or on the rocks.
