Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Smells faintly of molasses. Mild and toasty flavor, with a bittersweet dark-chocolate flavor that develops as it breathes. Mixes great with coconut water. Can find it most places for $20 at most, though I happily pay $13 a bottle. Can't complain too much for $13.
I bought this in a store where the only other choice was Brugal so I gave it a try. It's nothing to get excited about but what do you expect for less than 10€. With coke and ice it's quite OK.
For this price (17 euro) not a bad rum but there is nothing to reccomend really. A bit harsh. Some added sugar. I reccomend investing 4 euros more and buy the abuelo 7 year, which is one of my favourites
Nez alcoolisé et banal.
Attaque plutôt franche et alcoolisée. Final adoucie avec canne prédominante.
My Ecuadorian family use to drink it on many occasions. I like it but it's not one of my favorites. It has a strong vanilla flavor.
I usually ask to mix drink with abuelo, much more better then havana, for great price.
For the price Ron Abuelo Anejo can't be beat. It has a syrupy taste of burnt sugar with a hint of wood (probably from an additive rather than a cask), sweet to the palate and kind to the throat if you roll it around a bit. The impression it gives is of a rich artisan rum instead of a thin commercial offering. I don't imagine it's artisan but the sweetness, depth of flavor and slightly piquant aftertaste linger longer than that of its price competitors such as Ron Centenario 5 years or Ron Flor de Cana 4 years. For rum lovers on a budget, look no further.
The smell is recognizable: sandalwood, raisins, cane. Heavy burning of alcohol, sweet confectionary cream, wood bark. I wouldn't want to drink more than two servings of this rum, because the finish is hard.
OK rum, not a sipping rum. Makes nice rum and coke.
This is a simple rum with it blends and flavour... Nothing special but nothing to mark it down on
It has't been aged for a long time, it has no extra vlavours, you can smell and taste how the rum tastes by itself. Maybe it wont be a bad idea to mix it.
Initially has quite a bite, but then softens. Oaky and sweet.
This rum used to be my favorite. But over the years I think quality has gone down a bit. Seems to young to be aged. The color does not look ver real either. The dark bottle helps tho.
I put it somewhere between 6 and 7 for a rating. The dark bottle suggests that it will be darker than it actually is. The taste is certainly palatable, however without any richness. A terrific value at $14 (in the metro midwest). It's not quite in the category of 7 which can be sipped neat. Mix it with a bit of tonic and you should enjoy both your rum and your frugality.
Nice Abuelo entry level rum from Panama.
Smooth easy drinking but I prefer it with coke. Looking forward to taste the 12 years old one ...

A fine young rum, but it's been heavily sweetened with added sugar. Downgraded from 7 to 5.
Do not be fooled by the look, very decent on the rocks can wait to get to the older versions. light wood barrel taste
First this is a 7.5 in my book.
Drinking neat isn't the best idea because it is somewhat harsh upfront, but not harsh in a terrible front to back way like Bacardi Gold. It gives a little sting and heat so I can see someone enjoying it neat for this unique trait. Smelling it you get a large amount of cask smell followed by some vanilla and alcohol. Drinking it cola is similar to Brugal's line, large amount of cask taste and light alcohol in background. Very good in cola would recommend in it especially at 10$ a bottle.
-Stinging upfront bite when drank neat, not too bad can be enjoyable.
-10$ a bottle cant go wrong
-One of those "woodsy" rums both smelling and taste. Similar to Brugal Rum
-Very good in cola
