Ron Abuelo 7 Anos Reserva Superior is produced in Panama and is one of three rums produced in the Ron Abuelo line. As the name suggests, it has been aged for 7 years in oak bourbon barrels and is blended before being bottled.
Abuelo is a fine smelling rum with some shades of raisins, chocolate and melase in the smell, but the taste id very uncomplicated, whisky-like with outstanding influence of wood.
This was the very first aged rum bottle I ever purchased. Found it in a little gift shop in Vero Beach FL and thought I would try it. This is how I crossed the barrier from bourbon to rum and it was really good, especially for the price. Recommend this all day long to anyone who is looking to get into rum for a small investment.
rhum en rapport avec son prix. Pas transcendant mais tout de même correct qui au vu du prix mériterait une meilleure note mais bon... ça reste moyen à mon gout.
This rum has a light amber, honey colour. Floral, vanilla and karamel on the nose. Medium body with a great round texture. Great balance between sweet and dry with taste of toffee, karamel, vanilla and flowers or apple blossom to be more specific. Some leather and smoke in the finish.
Good luck finding a better rum with this age / price range
This is okay Rum but miss some body and aftertaste, easy to drink and it is okay straight. I have read that it is among the best 7 years Rum! Price is really ok, I paid around 18 euros in Spain.
Good rum at good price. Little hint of honey in aroma and taste. Good with few drops of water or with one small ice-cube.
lidt skarp, lidt sprittet, men stor smag, stor duft og god tør sødme. masser af fylde og god eftersmag. Dejligt at opleve for så billig en rom
I was in Panama last year and only discovered the 7 Anos just before i left (i did bring a bottle home with me though). Up until then i was drinking the standard Abuelo Anejo. The 7 Anos is well worth the slight increase in price if you're after a sipper, its much smoother with a lovely sweet/slightly spicy taste.
Excellent for mixing, but the 12 year is better for sipping.
my first rum. Thin taste, seems very sweet to me. Nothing special. Not well balanced. Happy to taste it, but not repeating...
Alkohol: 40 %
Aroma: Cedr, lesní med, vanilka, kůže a máta.
Excellent aroma, above average taste, just the finish could be little bit better.
Ein Rum der zwar sehr kräftig ist den man aber trotzdem auch gut pur trinken kann. Gemischt hat habe ich ihn noch nicht probiert.
A very nice "Cuban" style rum

Expected no less than great from Abuelo. Good balance of wood notes and sweetness. First time I sat down with the bottle, I ended up finishing half.
profumi di cacao e vaniglia............splendido
Smooth sipping rum at a great price
Maybe it's the bourbon barrel aging? This rum doesn't strike me as sweet on the nose - in fact after some air I smell faint cigar-box. But the palette is buttery and the finish is rich and just slightly sweet. There is definitely complexity here, as you'd expect from this age bracket, but it's not as much as I find in other rums. This rum lasts a LONG time on the palette, too, reminiscent of a good cognac.
Nice colour, nice smell and taste with just the right amount of swetteness
Very Nice Smooth rum, great daily drinker
This is a good rum at a good price.
surprising to me in that I had no knowledge of this brand. I had not read anything, or heard anything pro or con. I got a 1.75 on sale for about $15.00 and have enjoyed it as a mixer.
Definitely agree that there are better out there, but this is a nice one too. Very Central American in terms of light color, soft and subtle taste, but without crossing into blandness. I love the bottle too. Definitely could be a bit cheaper but not bad at mid-$20s. Have seen it at JFK duty free for $18, which would be an outrageous bargain.
