Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Ron Abuelo 7 Anos Reserva Superior is produced in Panama and is one of three rums produced in the Ron Abuelo line. As the name suggests, it has been aged for 7 years in oak bourbon barrels and is blended before being bottled.
I may be in the market for a $100+ bottle of rum as a celebratory rum due to something that may be coming up for me. In the discussion area I asked for recommendations and Ron Abuelo Centuria was recommended. Unfortunately no one locally has that in stock and the best I could find was the 7 Anos Reserva Superior. So I picked up a bottle to try. I will say up front that I find this one of the best values for rum. Definitely a fine rum that could be sold for double the price. Right off the bat I noticed the rich aroma in the bottle. Sipping some revealed a very noticeable sweetness...perhaps too sweet for some...however it is balanced with a multitude of flavors that sadly my uneducated palate cannot identify. However after the slow, rather mild burn (yes, it is a smooth rum) faded, I could detect some caramel to it. And that tempts another sip. This rum is a bargain and should be a required addition to any rum cabinet. A "must have". Extremely versatile as well.
It really taste like whisky, which is not my style, but not bad. If you like whisky, go for it.
Det var ikke lige min kop the. Jeg fik den i en rom julekalender. Men det bliver ikke en jeg køber
I can not say that I'm in to whisky in any way, so this rum was a mixed experience. But it is not bad per say, so I'll give it a big 6.
Nice taste, but is to dominated by the alcohol go for the 12 year old.
What is the difference of 7 points from 8? At the same pleasant impression, the dignity of each and no rudeness throat. Eight wants to sip more and more, finding shades of taste and smell interesting and harmonious. Abuelo 7 with a good start and the throat has no charisma and memorable aftertaste.
A good rum that is enjoyable but doesn't blow me away. The initial smell is slightly astringent with hints of oak, vanilla and a slight citrus essence. The taste is slightly warm with a nice coating of the mouth of vanilla, caramel oak and cinamon spice. This is a great deal/value.
Not my fav but i will order in a pinch. Better vs the zacapa rums by far. Nothing like the gasoline coming out of Barbados. This is a great rum over ice but maybe upgrade to the 12yr for sake of the night.
I like this rum. Has a nice smooth flavor, especially for the price
Dégusté en masterclass j'ai découvert cette marque et leur savoir faire
Toute la gamme vaut le détour et celui-ci n'échappe pas à la règle et son tarif est bas aux vues du plaisir dans le verre
It had an unusual flavor that wasn't for me. I would rather have appleton estate reserve or pusser's navy for the same price.
Slightly sweet with good solid flavor and a moderately smooth finish
Jolie rhum tout en rondeur, des notes de bois, de caramel et de vanille bien présente, idéal en digestif.
this is one the best rum ever...after the 12yo of the same company...lot of flavour..you can drink it as it or as i prefer with cola and lemon
Angelo rums are near the top of my list. This one is good, but the 12 yr old is worth the extra
Pentru prima dată încercat cu un trabuc sau țigară de foi Rocky Patel
O totală surpriză. Recomand!
Good choice. Interesting taste. Great taste. Nice barell taste.
Bohuzel jsem cekal o mnoho vic. Zvlastni zapach, hodne ostre. Nevyrazna chut. Jedine s colou
À venir prochainement.............................
Kommt bei weitem nicht an den 12 heran. Aber Preis/Leistung okay
Hints of chocolate, vanilla, wood and spice with some smokiness.
Good on its own but not wasted with a mixer, such as a light ginger beer (Fever-Tree). It was a present, so cannot comment on price or value.
Preis-Leistung bei diesem Rum stimmt, auf jeden fall mal wert getrunken zu werden. Den Abuelo 12 finde ich jedoch um einiges besser.
Good and affordable for those who like it dry! This rum is a bargain depending where you buy it.
FYI I drink it neat. It's not as mahogany colored as other aged rums and even though it is graded at 37,5º and it's not super complex it has character and strenght. This rum is not overly sweet (which is good if that's not your thing), it's woody and carries an oaky flavour. Would like to try the 12 yrs to see what it has to offer over this.
In terms of flavour this Abuelo 7 remindes me of Malteco 10 - they are both a little too subtle for my taste.
Abuelo is less honeyed and more chocolatey and spicier, but also a little less smoother than Malteco 10.
This is a decent enough rum that deserves 7 points. I find Diplomatico Reserva to be more full of character but all in all I do not regret buying this Abuelo 7. Price is very reasonable, too.
